Chapter 144

Kian's P. O. V

I knew I shouldn't have brought up the fire incident, it suddenly slipped out and ruined the atmosphere. On Davien's face, it was clear that he was feeling bad, guilty even for something that had nothing to do with him.

"Hey, Kian."

I couldn't find the right words to say to make him feel better so I hummed a response.

But then, he asked a question that sent a shiver down my spine, paralysing my body for a split second.

"If you were given the chance to see your mother again, what would you say to her?" Davien asked all of a sudden, confusing me behind the motive of his question.

Agnes was dead, she wasn't going to come back to life, it was foolish of me in the first place to believe Silvia's words when she offered to bring her to me.

So why? Why was Davien saying the same irrational thing? What the hell did he want to hear me say?
