Chapter 8: Awakened(8)

"Chief, please be honest with me, who is Azuri to you."

As these words were said, the first thing that came to Alexander's mind was, 'Shit, I messed up.'

Up till now, Alexander has been doing his best go keep silent. Most of what he has said was apologies and 'okay's. This was of course largely due to his introverted personality. But the real reason was because he was afraid of being caught.

In novels, the main characters that are transmigrated into new worlds are usually given the previous host's memories. This was not without reason though. It was done so that the new host, the transmigrator, can assimilate into the new life smoothly without being discovered.

But here comes the problem for Alexander.

He was not given any memories.

Which put him in a difficult situation. A situation In which he has to to act carefully in practically everything he does. There are two main reasons why. For one, he knows absolutely nothing about the people of this world.

Back in his past life, Alexander had read a webtoon about a person who transmigrated into another world. Little did he know that there has been other transmigrators before him. And basically everyone in that world hates transmigrators. Because of a mistake, he was found out and hunted down.

So Alexander had to watch what he does or say. Otherwise he might commit some unspeakable taboo that may put him in trouble.

The second was because of family ties. To get to this world, Alexander had taken the body of another. Meaning that people in this world will know him as someone else.

Zuri.

Zuri's family members must know her quite well, but Alexander doesn't. And since Alexander was not Zuri, he will likely act differently from her. And her family members will at some point notice.

An awkward situation will arise with him being found out. Alexander is not sure how anyone would react to their family member being replace, but it shouldn't be good.

So whichever situation of the two it may be, one must not be discovered.

And due to what Myuri had said, Alexander believes he has triggered the second situation.

Who was Azuri to him?

Alexander can answer that easily. She was the person who let him do anal that's who.

But the question was clearly directed at Zuri and not him. So who was Azuri to Zuri? Alexander was not sure. Because their names were similar, he could say she was her sister and possibly her mother. But who lets their children put their dick in their butt? Maybe it's something people of this world do. But he wouldn't know would he? So now even the first situation troubles him.

Not sure what he was supposed to say, Alexander started panicking. Bad situation started appearing in his mind of what could happen if he was discovered.

'Will they treat me as a demon and try to take me out with fire?'

'Will they hate and kill me becaue the original died and I have taken her body?'

'Will they...'

These terrifying though soon came to end. As Myuri's hand gently held his shoulder. She looked at him in they eyes with both worry and gentleness. An expression that gave Alexander the feeling that he could trust her.

"Be calm and trust me. You can tell me anything."

After calming down, Alexander finally knew what he should say.

"I don't know."

The two looked at him for a second not sure what to take on his answer.

"I don't know what she is to me... I don't remember anything."

Azuri looked distraught. She quickly went over towards Alexander and held his face. She looked him in the eye with worry and disbelief.

"Zuri, please tell me you remember me..."

Alexander felt guilty when he saw her worry filled eyes. He had after all from the looks of it, taken over her family member. Even now, he was lying to her in order to use her family member's identity. So he could not look her in the eye. He tried to avert his gaze, hoping to not feel as guilty. But she was really strong. he could not move his head no matter how much he tried. So he could only...

"I'm sorry. I can't..."

Before he could finish his words, he felt Azuri's arms cover him for a hug.

"Its okay... well get through this little sis."

For a minute, Azuri and Alexander stood still like so. Even though Alexander was so close to the mostly naked Azuri, the situation made it hard for him to feel aroused. In the end the two parted and Azuri looked fine. But Alexander could see the wetness in her eyes of tears long wiped off.

Azuri then looked at Myuri.

"What could be wrong with her?" She asked.

Myuri herself only took a long breath. "I don't know. This is the first time I am witnessing a chief's awakening after all. She seems to be having amnesia. It's a rare illness that I have only ever seen once in the tribe. I do not know much about it other than that the patient will not remember anything about themselves. We should consult healer Heena. She should have more information about this than me."
