Alicia stopped in her tracks and turned around to see who was behind her. It was Henry.
Lifting his head a bit, he motioned to the little garden nearby and said, "Let's chat over there."
Giving a small nod, Alicia went along with him.
They stepped into the garden, where Henry, with a quick flick of his lighter, lit a cigarette. Taking a deep breath, he said, "I don't really have any hard feelings towards you. Honestly, you're a pretty good girl. But love isn't what drives a guy like me when it comes to choosing a wife. We need a solid support system, someone who can stand strong with us through tough times."
Biting her lip, Alicia answered in a quiet voice, "I'll try to do better. I don't think I'm any worse than Madelyn or Ginevra."
