"So what did I miss?" Nathaniel asked as he slipped back into his seat. 

"Not much, they were just debating whether or not the Newbie at Miller Industries will be our new lady boss, not that it affects us in any way," Benedict told Nathaniel as he continued to listen to the girls drone on. "You still owe me an explanation, by the way."

Nathaniel nodded as he slid out his phone and sent a quick message to Clark. He had forgotten to ask his assistant to run a background check on Benedict. 

"Give me time, I'll explain eventually," Nathaniel told his friend, hoping that the latter won't suspect anything.

The thing about working among ordinary employees is that Nathaniel often forgot how simple things were, how plainly everyone thought. 

Their minds weren't filled with plots upon plots, seeing a way to twist and spin every idea. 

When Nathaniel told Benedict that he would eventually explain, that's exactly what he meant to Benedict.
