Chapter 100: A flustered Rachael

What I asked of Rachael was a simple thing.

"How about you go on a date with me?"

"Huh?"

Hearing my words, Rachael blinked her eyes a couple of times, and only then did her mind register what I said.

In an instant, her eyes widened in surprise, and her face from the neck up turned red.

She became flustered as she looked at me, opening her mouth, her words slurred.

"D...Date?"

"Yes, don't you want to? Are you going back on your words now?"

"Ah, no... No... That's not it...!"

She stammered, trying to find the right words to explain herself. 

But since I knew that teasing her wouldn't get me anywhere, I stopped and then intently looked at her with tender eyes, speaking gently.

"Then, will you give me a chance?"

"Chance..."

She mumbled and went into contemplation, as if she suddenly recalled a memory.

Even though I didn't know exactly what it was, I had a hunch about it.
