"Isaac…." 

A furrow appeared on Isaac's brow as the voice whispered in his head.

"Isaac, wake up. It's me."

His eyes finally opened, only to widen upon seeing Maxi hovering over him.

"What are…?"

However, he couldn't finish his sentence because she climbed into bed with him, causing Isaac to scoot over and make more space for her. By the time she settled down, Maxi was grinning down at him and Isaac couldn't help the way his heart fluttered.

"How?" He inquired about how she had been able to escape his mother's confines.

No one knew about the mate bond between them; Isaac and Maxi had decided it was best to keep quiet about it. Who knows how the Fae would react if they were to realize that a dark Fae could form a bond with another Faerie without consequences. The belief that dark Fae were cursed to be mateless had been circulating for eons. It would definitely cause a ruckus.
