Chapter 43 : The Thousand-Legged Centipede Spirit (2)

Zhang Fengxi whirled around and gaped at a fuming Jiang Muchen.

"Selfish bastard," Jiang Muchen scowled at him. "Don't you know that the Grand Tutor split us based on our martial arts and cultivation level? If you leave me behind with this guy, I am going to die!"

"..."

Jiang Muchen was too dramatic. He of course was not going to die. In his past life, Zhang Fengxi and Jiang Muchen ended up being thrown into a nearby river and swimming all the way to the river banks. Jiang Muchen was additionally a very capable swimmer.

The alpha who Zhang Fengxi wanted to switch with was quickly incensed.

"Prince Jiang Muchen!" he cried out full of indignation. "Are you telling me that I am weak? Don't be so cocky!"

Jiang Muchen scoffed.

"If that's the case, why don't I also switch with another teammate of yours? Then you and that teammate can go and tackle the fifth entrance on your own."

"That...!!!"

The alpha hesitated. A victorious smirk spread on Jiang Muchen's face. Zhang Fengxi did not have time to join Jiang Muchen's ego trip.

"I don't care who goes with me," Zhang Fengxi said. "Jiang Muchen, if you want to come with me, then by all means. The fifth and third groups should switch the entrances entirely to avoid unwanted power imbalance."

"Hey."

Jiang Muchen knitted his brows and stared at Zhang Fengxi after the third group went away to enter the fifth entrance.

"Why do you want to enter the third entrance?"

Zhang Fengxi sneered.

"I can't stand your smell, that's why."

Jiang Muchen's face turned purple.

"What the hell? I do NOT smell!"

"You do," Zhang Fengxi laughed all the way into the third entrance.

"You asshole! Tell me the truth or else...!!!"

Zhang Fengxi unsheathed his sword and pressed a finger to his lips. Jiang Muchen shut up right away. He readied his bow and nodded.

The two young alphas inched deeper into the manmade cave.

Zhang Fengxi took out a fire talisman and burned it for lighting purposes. The cave was very quiet. Other than them, there was no other creature around. Except for the spirit that was trapped inside.

Soon, they arrived at the end of the cave. Contrary to Zhang Fengxi's expectation, the villagers had yet to dig further to reach the giant centipede.

"Well, go ahead and dig," Jiang Muchen told ashen-faced Zhang Fengxi.

"Me? What about you?"

Jiang Muchen lifted his bow and arrow in response. "I can't dig with these."

Zhang Fengxi lifted his sword as well.

"Do you think that this is a shovel?"

"You can stab it into the wall and see if it crumbles."

"..."

Jiang Muchen was an idiot.

Zhang Fengxi was about to knock at Jiang Muchen's head to hear whether it made a hollow sound or not when the cave suddenly started to shake.

"..."

"..."

"What was that?" Jiang Muchen asked dumbly.

"That was your moth... AAAAAAHHHHH!!!"

The rock beneath their feet cracked. A while later, the furious roaring sound of the Thousand-Legged Centipede Spirit was heard.

"Oh, shit."

Zhang Fengxi realized his error.

The three alphas at the fifth entrance eagerly attacked the spirit as soon as they came across its body. They unknowingly released the last seals that suppressed the centipede. The giant spirit was going to be released soon!

The crack beneath their feet widened by the second. Zhang Fengxi leaped to the left while Jiang Muchen leaped to the right. Both alphas were pale with fright.

Another roaring sound was heard, and the cave started crumbling on them.

"What are we supposed to do???" Jiang Muchen asked, his arms raised above his head to protect them from the small stones that fell from the ceiling.

Zhang Fengxi clicked with his tongue and cursed under his breath. He leaped to Jiang Muchen's side, grabbed him by his collar, and stabbed his sword into the cave wall.

"Hang on to the sword, do not move too much," he hissed at Jiang Muchen.

Jiang Muchen did not dare to even ask a question. He obediently did what Zhang Fengxi asked of him.

The cave continued to crumble. And then, the opposite wall exploded with a thunderous sound. Covered in white powder from head to toe, Xie Jianyu and Zhou Guiying appeared from behind the wall.

Both of them were stunned to see Jiang Muchen and Zhang Fengxi there.

"Little Uncle!!!" Jiang Muchen cried out as if he personally saw his savior.
