Practice makes perfect

Cael spent the next week hunting in the mornings together with Ginevra and practicing glyph-writing in the evening. There were plenty of low-level magical beasts in the surrounding waters. Cael guessed that more dangerous ones might appear farther from the shore. It was too far to go without a boat, though.

The low-level beasts were good enough for both blood and materials. The pile of bones Cael kept in his storage book grew each day, since he kept his glyph-writing to sand, paper, and wood.

During these days, Cael made progress in finding a correlation between certain low-level spells and materials that suited them best. But the knowledge of how to write glyphs without activating them prematurely still eluded him—and without it, his efforts were pointless.
