Chapter 299: Reaching the limit

"It is useless!, your water abilities can do nothing against our sister, Smoothie. Now, just stay there and die!" Amande saw that Vivi had not moved from her stop in the air and thought she was distracted.

Vivi was focusing her attention on the surrounding water sources. Luckily for her, the Chateau had a massive supply of water arriving from an underground river.

Several giant pipes were passing beneath them.

Smoothie was busy observing the changes in Vivi's aura and body while her sisters prepared to attack.

Amande was the first one to jump, immediately being followed by Custard.

Both sisters coated their blades with haki and aimed at her head.

Their attack managed to hit its intended target, Amande pierced the upper part of Vivi's head with her nodachi while Custard did the same with her neck.

A hit like this would be enough to kill most Logia users.

"Did we get her?" Wondered Baron Tamago while observing from the ground.

Smoothie noticed that Vivi's eyes had not lost their shine, her skin was changing colors and her aura kept increasing. She instantly knew that something was off. 

'She is not dying...this is her awakening!'

"Move away from her, now!" Smoothie yelled.

Vivi's hands moved like whips and grasped the necks of Custard and Amande.

The two girls did not have time to recover from their shock when the pipes beneath them burst open, releasing a torrent of water that quickly started to flood the library.

Smoothie knew she had to contain this or they would be dead soon so she pushed her ability to its limits and tried to absorb as much water as possible. 

Custard and Amande found themselves completely encased in bubbles of water that Vivi had created around them.

Baron Tamago knew that if he did nothing, those two would die soon for lack of air.

He jumped above the place where Vivi was floating and launched a desperate attack.

"Leg Benedict!"

A barrage of kicks landed on Vivi's face and chest.

Both of her arms were currently occupied, preventing the two swordwomen from escaping.

This may have made her look defenseless. But that was not the case...

Four more arms emerged from her torso and secured Tamago by his arms and legs.

He tried to free himself by brute force but found himself being overpowered by the translucent arms.

"Release me, you... monster!" 

"Yes, very creative..." Vivi pulled hard on his limbs, earning a painful cry from him. Once she had a good grip and he could not move a single inch, she spat a water bulled and pierced his skull.

She knew that he would eventually come back to life due to his devil fruit power. But didn't care about that. The man was not a threat to her, just a mild annoyance.

She threw the body away and transformed her extra limbs into sharp blades.

"Is your turn now." Vivi aimed them at Custard and Amande, who were unable to breathe or move from their spots under her grasp.

"No, stop!" Smoothie moved her gigantic body with tremendous agility and intercepted the blades before they reached her two sisters.

Smoothie then used her ability to remove all the water surrounding Custard and Amande, including Vivi's arms, and so was able to free them, as well as force Vivi away.

This did come with a heavy price...Smoothie had been containing most of the water bursting into the room, but this meant that, the moment she stopped doing so...

A giant column of water erupted from beneath Smoothie and completely covered her.

At the last instant, she was able to throw away her two unconscious sisters towards the second floor, where they would be away from the water.

Smoothie knew....she was not getting away from here. There was just too much water for her to absorb, and Vivi only needed a moment to inflict lethal damage on her.

Smoothie felt the pain caused by thousands of sharp objects piercing her skin as her vision grew dark and knew she would soon die.

At least her sister will have a chance to survive if Vivi doesn't go out of her way to kill them.

"How annoying..." Vivi stared at the unconscious body of Smoothie.

"You had to go and act all heroic in the end...If I kill you now I would look like the bad guy."

Vivi sighed. She already made the decision, so she threw Smoothie's body around the same place where her sisters were.

It did not matter...she had come here for something else.

At least half the library was now flooded, but the place with the Poneglyph was on the second floor so at least that was fine.

Vivi landed in front of a red rock and smashed away the metal bars protecting it.

"How use-"urggg!" Her awakening was forcefully cut short as she felt an undescribable amount of pain in her very own soul.

'It seems like I reached my current limit...' She could only conclude, that this was the first time she pushed herself this far with her awakening.

'That's fine...I just need to copy the contents of this thing and I can sneak out.'

She moved her hands to her back in order to reach the bag where she placed al of the tools Robin gave her.

"Wait...where did I put them again?"
