CHAPTER 118
289 AC
POV KEGAN
"Lord Dr..."
My Lord brought his finger to his mouth;
"Shiii! How many times have I told you not the call me Lord? Just call me Ser Drasil or Ser Aermir. You'll get us in trouble for nothing if a noble hear you say that."
If I have to address those idiot nobles with respectful titles, how could I call my Lord just "Ser"?
"My... Ser Drasil, we didn't know you were Druid Emrys, or are you impersonating him."
"Ohh, I didn't tell you guys about this. Yes, I am Druid Emrys."
"Yes, Ser... You didn't tell us about your other persona, and you only told us about your powers a bit."
"Kegan, I came to you today to give you this message."
He took a small piece of paper from the jacket made out of grass, twigs, and moss and then handed it to me.
"Take this and go to Jory Cassel. Tell him a raven brought it to you. They'll know I sent the raven because they know I'm a warg. If they don't believe it, I put the seal Lord Stark gave me at the end of the message. By the way, I hadn't asked before, do you and your brother know how to read and write?"
"I know a bit, Ser."
Harlik scratched the back of his head and said shyly.
"Ser, I'm not good at these things, Kegan has tried to teach me several times, but I don't need them at all."
"Knowing a bit won't cut it if you are going to work for me, and not knowing is basically a sin. Looks like I have to arrange lessons for you guys after the war. Anyway, back to our topic. When you show them this order, he will send you and all the soldiers under my command to Lannisport. It won't take more than a few days for me to get there, but for you, it will take about a month, so you should set off right away, don't waste any more time here."
"Ser, what should we do when we reach there?"
"I would already be there, but if I am not, just join up with other Stark men. By the time you are there, Mikken must have finished your armors, so I will bring them for you."
We both bowed respectfully, especially my brother was very excited. He even loved the bent armor Lord bought for him. When he gets his real armor, he will fly with happiness. The Lord turned into a great eagle and slowly disappeared into the sky.
POV MC
Before I went to Westerlands to meet up with the rest of the army, I had to do two things. First, I had to leave Bear Island as Aermir, and I had to go back to Winterfell and pick up Kegan and Harlik's armor. I reached the Island in a few hours and landed on the shore. After returning to my real shape, I walked up to the Mormont Keep. The castle itself was made out of giant logs, and an earthen palisade surrounded it.
On the gate, there is a carving of a woman in a bearskin with a babe suckling at her breast in one arm and a battleaxe in the other. People of Bear Island believed her to be the first Mormont mother. They called her first she-bear, mother of all, and warrior mother. Everyone would kiss her hands or touch her feet as they entered through the gate.
When I got close to the gate, they turned their spears at me and shouted.
"Identify yourself!"
"I am Ser Aermir Drasil, a knight of Winterfell."
"The Bane? Do you have any way of proving that?"
I hate that nickname; it is too edgy and cringe. I pulled out the seal Lord Stark gave me as my proof.
"I am sorry, Ser Drasil, nobody in Bear Island ever saw you, and we just got attacked by the Ironborns."
"Not to worry, I will not take any offense when warriors are doing their job. I haven't found any ships in the harbor. It's been over a week since the attack; why haven't they returned yet?"
Just then, Maege Mormont, who heard me talking to the guards, came out of the castle and said
"How do you know it has been more than a week, and who are you?"
The Guards immediately sprang to attention and saluted the Lady. One of the guards told her who I was, then she turned to me and said;
"Ser Drasil, you still didn't answer my question? How do you know that? Didn't you just come to the Island?"
"No, my Lady, I have been on this Island since the attack."
After hearing this, she looked angry and said;
"Is this the manners of a Stark Knight, coming into the lands of another lord and staying there without informing them."
"I am sorry, my Lady, I was injured when I was fighting the ironborn. When I recuperated, I came to your estate right away."
This time her anger turned into embarrassment, and while coughing, she said:
"I was rash in my words, but when we rushed to the field of battle, we didn't see you. We only saw the Druid and his tames."
"If you only saw the Druid and the tames, that means you came right at the end. I was in the forest line pelting Ironborns full of arrows."
After that, we started talking about the battle and what happened, and of course, I weaved a believable half-lie, half-truth. Told her how Druid Emry saved my life by healing my wounds. Lady told me the ships would come back after 1 or 2 days since they had been gone for a supply run.
That night, they threw a feast in the name of Druid Emrys and me. This time I started telling the battle story to Jorah, Darcey, and Alysane Mormont. Alysane Mormont was a she-bear like her mother, and she was short, chunky, but muscular, with big thighs and hands. When she talked, she was a gruff but honest woman like her mother, but there was a difference between the two. Lady Maege Mormont was the loudest person I had ever met. On the contrary, Alysane was a taciturn person most of the time.
Dacey Mormont looked like she was adopted. She looked nothing like her mother and had long, raven black hair that reached her waist. She looks to be around 18 name-days old. Both Maege and Alysane Mormont were short and stout women, but Dacey was tall and athletic. You could see she had a toned outline through her cream-colored dress, but she had one similarity with her sister and mother. She was a deadly warrior with a morningstar.
Dacey Mormont
