What in Jupiter's name was wrong with Sir Everest? They were yet to recover from the shock of the sudden death of a member of the council, whose blood and body were still lying there for all to see, and he was saying he had something to discuss. 

Sir Rufus especially, looked like his eyeballs would pop out because of how wide his eyes, which were set on Sir Everest, were. 

The only reason he could come up with for this kind of foolish bravery was that the guy must have taken some serious courage-boosting drug, or was relying on the sheer advantage that he was one of the oldest members of the council.
