Chapter 42

It's been a week since Morgan and Hope kidnapped Peach from the Mushroom Kingdom, when they brought her back home, Toadsworth got on their case and scolded them something fierce, but both girls ignored him and just went to eat cake at the castle's kitchen, much to Princess Peach's amusement.

They came back home some hours later and went on with their usual day, today Morgan is working on her computer and checking some information her Uncle Harry sent her "... All of these planets look amazing, I wonder if we can make life sprout on some of them?.

I mean, Uncle Harry surely can, and maybe Uncle Naruto as well? He is a sage after all, but then so could Aunty Yasaka and Konou too, I think it's worth trying... I'll text him later and ask him to give it a try".

Morgan leaned back on her chair and looked out the window, it was a bright and sunny day today so she felt like going out and doing something, she just didn't know what.

It was at times like these, that Morgan really misses her uncle "I guess dragon gods are always busy...".

Morgan suddenly narrowed her eyes and looked down "... What does a dragon god do anyways? Do we gave duties?".

Morgan frowned as she thought about this, as far as she knew, Uncle Harry never mentioned anything about what a dragon god was supposed to do, he never spoke about any duties or even some sort of event they were responsible for.

Though her Uncle Harry was always busy, so maybe that's his duty? All this thinking got Morgan very curious, she suddenly summoned her sacred gear and called out to her friend "Ddraig? Are you awake".

There was silence at first, but Morgan's sacred gear began to glow and then Ddraig appeared in his chibi form, though he yawned widely and stretched like a cat "Yeah, I'm awake, what's up Morgan?".

Morgan smiled at Ddraig and then sat him on her lap, which caused the heavenly dragon to grunt and huff, Morgan didn't care though, and just began to pet him like a cat "I was just wondering what a dragon god is supposed to do?".

Ddraig tilted his head and began to think "I mean, anything really, a dragon god can do whatever it wants and nothing can stop it".

Morgan shook her head "No, not like that, you know how gods like Hades and Aunty Hestia have domains and things that they're in charge of? Like the Land of the Dead and the hearth, do we dragon gods have something like that?".

Ddraig looked down and actually thought about Morgan's questions, but he couldn't come up with anything "You know? I'm not sure, not a lot is known about dragon gods... I certainly don't know anything about what Ophis and Great Red get up to or if they have something they have to care for, much less Harry who is something entirely different".

Morgan frowned "I see...".

Ddraig looked up at his friend and smiled, Morgan had grown a lot during all this time, not only in mentality but also in power, it made Ddraig feel very proud of her "You know, you've grown a lot, Morgan".

Morgan looked down at at Ddraig and said, "Huh? In which way?".

Ddraig chuckled and shook his head in amusement "Well, before, you wouldn't have been thinking of something like this, you're usually free-spirited and wild, you're not one to think this hard about something*.

Morgan scratched the back of her head and smiled at her friend "I was just wondering, Hope and I are dragon gods now, but every other deity we know has something they're in charge of and protects it.

But Uncle Harry has never mentioned anything, not even Aunty Ophis, it made me very curious if we dragons even have something similar, and if not, why?".

Ddraig nodded in understanding "I see, well, my thoughts on this, is that dragon gods are something entirely different from regular gods, Ophis and Great Red just came to be, while Harry became one after so many adventures.

So, I don't think dragon gods have something like that, it would hold them back and dragons are supposed to be free, though I'm not sure either, I might be wrong too"

Morgan hummed as she petted Ddraig "That sort of makes sense...".

Ddraig grinned at Morgan and then said "Well if you're too curious, why don't you ask a dragon god? I'm sure one of the few around here can answer your question".

Morgan grinned and nodded "That sounds like a good idea, Uncle Harry is in another world but let's see if Hope knows something, she is the phoenix force and has been alive for a very long time! Maybe she knows something".

Ddraig nodded to Morgan and then jumped on her shoulders, he then said "Well then, let's go and find Hope! You got me curious now, so I want to know more about dragon gods".

Morgan nodded and stood up from her chair, she then turned off her computer, and after that, she quickly left her room and went to find Hope.

It didn't take long for Morgan to find Hope, she could easily sense her from anywhere and she felt her inside the house, so she went to find her, it took her a few minutes, but she arrived at the living room and found Hope watching a movie with her mother Jean.

Hope suddenly tilted her head at a scene in a movie "Okay?... but if she knew that the box is a portal to hell then why play with it?... and that's a lot of blood".

Jean laughed at her daughter's habit of questioning any movies they watch "Well, it is the only way to close the portal and send the bad guys away".

Hope hummed as she continued to watch the movie, but then said "What a horrible design for a portal to hell, I guess curiosity does kill the cat".

Jean smiled and shook her head "Don't let Koneko and Yuroichi hear you say that, they won't stop until you take it back".

Hope deadpanned "... They both got blasted away, when they decided to wind up a Bob-omb, just to see what would happen Mom".

Jean had no defense for the cat-like Yoruichi and the actual nekoshou Koneko "I guess they were both hoisted by their own petard...".

Hope turned to look at her mother and deadpanned "That was horrible Mom, stop hanging out with Sirius and Remus".

Jean just giggled and grabbed Hope, she then lifted her up and sat her on her lap "You're supposed to laugh at your mother's puns Hope and let her have her own fun".

Hope shook her head "No way! I can't handle puns that bad Mom, my healing factor can't keep up".

Jean just smiled at her daughter's response and tried not to laugh, Morgan giggled which made both Jean and Hope realize they weren't alone, Hope smiled at Morgan and then asked her "Morgan, why are you just standing there? Weren't you checking the information dad sent about the planet's he's visited?".

Morgan nodded and then walked over to the couch and sat down beside Hope and Jean, she then looked at the TV and raised an eyebrow at the scene playing on it "Huh? Why does that guy have nails in his face?... and did he just pulled the skin off that guy?".

Hope shrugged "I don't know, this movie makes no sense, apparently nail guy is some kind of demon or something, it's a good scary movie though".

Morgan grinned "You think someone in the household would get scared of someone like that?".

Hope laughed a little and then said "Well Mommy Rei and Fuyumi were here watching it with us, they ran away at the first scene with blood".

Morgan giggled "That's not fair though, Aunty Rei and Big Sis Fuyumi aren't used to things like that, we've all seen very mysterious and horror-like things".

Hope nodded, it was a fact, that living in the supernatural world, you're bound to someday get a jump scare or too, everyone has at some point, even her daddy as well.

Jean smiled and nodded "Ah yes, I remember the first time I saw a real ghost here in this world, that creeped me out quite a bit, thank goodness Asia blasted it with holy light until it was gone".

Morgan looked up at the ceiling and seemed to be thinking "Oh yeah... that one ghost of the creepy old man haunting the ladies' bathroom at the park, that was really odd too".

Jean nodded, she didn't know what was going on until she tried to punch the old man, only for her hand to go through him, it startled her something fierce.

It was a good thing Asia was hanging out with her, Morgan then suddenly said "Well, anyways, I have a question for you Hope!".

Hope raised an eyebrow, but gave her sister in all but blood, all of her attention "Okay, then let's see what your question is".

Jean looked intrigued, Morgan is a very curious girl and often asks the oddest of questions, but its always fun to see her try to get her answers, Morgan then began to explain everything she talked about with Ddraig, while the heavenly dragon on Morgan's shoulder piped in once in a while.

Hope listened to everything Morgan said, but over time she had scrunched up her eyebrows and seemed to be pondering Morgan's words, when Morgan finished speaking, Hope had crossed her arm and seemed to be thinking hard.

Jean looked at her daughter for a bit and then turned her head towards Morgan "Why did you think about this Morgan?".

Morgan just shrugged "Well, I just got curious about Uncle Harry's main purpose or job? Maybe calling? Not sure what to call it either, but he's said something about 'balance through chaos' It's something Uncle Harry takes care of and protects which keeps him busy, so I wondered if Hope and I had something like that".

Jean looked down, if she was honest with herself, she would have to admit that she never thought about Harry's duties as a dragon god, but now that Morgan raised the question she had to admit, that despite seeming to do things at random.

Harry does bring some sort of stability and balance to wherever he goes, though it's often brought after he caused a crazy amount of chaos and change.

Hope suddenly shook her head and then began to speak "Well, to be honest, my duties as the phoenix force was, rebirth through destruction, to protect that cycle of life and death in the universe.

But now? I'm not to sure, when I was given this life and family, my fate was changed, I pushed away everything that had to do with my past as the phoenix force.

So, I've never thought about what sort of new duty I should have now that I'm a dragon god... It hasn't been too long since we became that either, so maybe it's a matter of waiting, or perhaps we have to look for it? But if that's the case, why hasn't Daddy ever mentioned it before?".

Morgan nodded to Hope's words, since she herself was wondering why her Uncle Harry never mentioned anything like this before, Jean however smiled and then said "Well, Harry does care a lot about free will, so maybe he was just letting you guys decide?".

Hope and Morgan turned to look at Jean and stared at her for a bit, Jean couldn't help but compare both girls to a couple of cats staring at her for whatever reason, Hope then nodded and said, "That does sound like something Daddy would do... but then how do we figure out our duties?".

Everyone stayed quiet for a little while, but then Ddraig, who was still hanging from Morgan's shoulders spoke "Why not ask a dragon god? Ophis lives here as well, I'm sure she can answer your questions".

The eyes of both Morgan and Hope widened as they realized that Ddraig was right, they had Ophis who may have answers to their questions, Jean smiled at both girls and then said "Ophis should be in the Dragon Sanctuary at this time of day".

Hope smiled at her mother and then gave her a hug, Jean of course hugged her daughter back and then patted her head, Hope then jumped out of the couch and both Morgan and her ran out of the room.

Jean turned on her head back towards the movie and then frowned "... Hope is right, why play with something that opens a gate to hell, silly girl".

Both Morgan and Hope teleported straight to Neo Kyoto and walked to the portal building, where Harry connected each and every portal he had ever built that is connected to another world, from there both girls jumped into the portal leading into the Dragon Sanctuary.

Once in there, both girls extended their senses and then went to look for Ophis, they both sensed her nearby another energy signature, so they quickly flew over to her location.

Morgan and Hope arrived at Ophis' location quickly enough and found her speaking with a blue-haired woman, Ophis immediately turned to face the girls and gave them a small smile.

Hope of course hugged her mother, while Ophis rubbed her cheek on Hope's cheeks in a tender manner, she then hugged Morgan and did the same, this was a mother dragon's way to show affection to their hatchling and Ophis always does that to the children of the Potter household.

Something these children have come to enjoy, the blue-haired woman that was speaking to Ophis smiled and then said "It still amazes me, just how much you have changed Ophis".

Ophis turned around towards the blue-haired woman and gave her a small smile "Yeah, being in love and having a family would change anyone Tiamat".

Morgan smiled and then looked at Tiamat "Ah! You're the Dragon King Tiamat! I didn't know you could take human form! I really like your blue scales they're very shiny!".

Tiamat smiled at Morgan but then narrowed her eyes at Ddraig, who was still riding on Morgan's shoulders and sweating something fierce, but Tiamat ignored him and then spoke to Morgan "Thank you, Lady Morgan, I like your crimson red scales myself".

Morgan blushed a bit but smiled at the compliment about her scales, she was a bit proud of how shiny they are, so getting a compliment from a fellow dragon about them, made Morgan feel a bit embarrassed.

Hope smiled at Tiamat "Hello Tiamat, I hope we aren't interrupting anything".

Tiamat shook her head "Not at all Lady Hope, I was just speaking with Ophis about expanding the area for the dragon apples".

Ophis nodded and then grabbed Hope's hand "Besides, you girls know we don't care much about our duties if you need us, we're always happy to spend time with you girls".

Hope and Morgan smiled, it always made them happy, just how much the adults of the Potter household cared about them and all the children, it made them feel really special.

Ophis then continued on "So what do you girls need? I doubt you came here just to say hi, right?".

Morgan then proceeded to tell Ophis about what she had been thinking, both Ophis and Tiamat listened intrigued until Morgan finished explaining her situation, Tiamat then hummed for a few seconds before speaking up "That's actually a good question... there's not much that is known about dragon gods, so a lot of beings had wondered what they actually do.

Most think they just exist or that they're just symbols of power, but we dragon kings think otherwise, as dragon kings we have our symbols of power as well.

For example, for me, it's Karma, that symbol of power, it's what makes me a dragon king, like a god's divinity, then heavenly dragons take it up a notch by turning those symbols into divine domains.

But dragon gods... well no one knows much about you guys, in fact, all of the dragons here wanted to ask you girls just what happened when you became dragon gods".

Hope and Morgan shared a look but then turned their head towards Tiamat, Hope was the one who started to explain "Well, one day, our power skyrocketed and our domains became concepts, mine is cosmic flames, while Morgan's is power but that's it, we don't know what triggered it.

Daddy told us that it was bound to happen as we got stronger, but that's it, we just woke up one day as dragon gods".

Tiamat frowned and looked down "But something must have happened, I doubt that sort of power just comes out nowhere, otherwise there should have been more dragon gods.

Hope, Morgan, and Tiamat all looked down and seemed to be thinking hard, this amused Ophis quite a bit, so with a smile on her face she spoke up "Of course is not that simple".

The girls turned their attention towards Ophis, while the female dragon god began to speak "Normally, dragon gods just come into existence, but Harry changed all of that.

Baka-Red and I were born from the actual concepts of dreams and infinity, we are the manifestation of those two concepts, I am infinity in physical form, that's what a dragon god is.

But Harry is a whole different story, he became one, he became a concept all by himself, and he went from being a human to a true dragon, but what does that mean? Can you girls guess? What so different about, Harry and us, about Baka-Red and me?".

Tiamat, Hope, and Morgan began to think about the circumstances of what could make Harry become a dragon god, but Morgan and Tiamat couldn't think about anything that might stick out to them.

Hope however had an idea "Experience... Daddy has experienced a lot during his life, he's has done all kinds of things, that's what's actually different from being born a dragon god and becoming one".

Tiamat suddenly shook her head "Wait a minute, it can't be that, we dragon kings and even more so Ddraig and Albion should have become dragon gods if that's the case".

Ddraig suddenly spoke up "No that's different...".

Tiamat glared at Ddraig and then said "How so?".

Ddraig didn't say anything and just stared at Tiamat, which pissed her off, but she knew she couldn't do anything, not only, would Morgan kick her ass but she didn't want to upset her either.

Ophis giggled and then said, "Hope is right and so is Ddraig".

Tiamat gaped at Ophis "What? But... then why hasn't any dragon become a dragon god, at least Ddraig and Albion should have been able to, no?".

Ophis shook her head "No, you see, here's the difference between other dragons and Harry, my beloved dragon god has struggled, cried, suffered, lost, and even fought for his life.

Dragons as a whole are already apex predators, the top of the crop, so we never had to struggle, everyone is afraid of us, so no challenges either, dragons have the spark to become dragon gods but don't have the need.

Ddraig and Albion might have been able to become one, especially because they always fought to the death, they might have triggered their becoming dragon gods if they survived their fight against the Judeo-Christian Factions, but well, we all know what happened to them".

Tiamat just stared at Ophis for a while in shock, while Morgan suddenly said "Our adventures! That's why we were able to evolve!".

Ophis smiled and nodded "You both were already at the power level to become dragon gods, you just needed a trigger, you might have not struggled physically in your adventures, but emotionally? You both learned a lot and grew up".

Hope looked down "Marvin's death...".

Morgan frown "Ah... I see, so that feeling of hopelessness and weakness... I get it now".

Ophis nodded and then went on "As for our duties, well, by just existing we anchor our concepts to reality, without us, there would be no more infinity, dreams, or balance.

If I were to die, infinity would vanish and the multiverse would stop expanding, and then... boom! There goes all creation, without infinite expansion, the multiverse would just bulge up and explode.

If Baka-Red were to die, well, dreams would run rampant, reality would collapse and everything would slowly become nothing but chaos, the bad kind of course, dreams and reality would merge and that's not a good thing either.

This is something Harry taught me though, at the time I didn't know, I was completely ignorant to all of this, you both girls are now anchors to the concepts of cosmic flames and power.

Without you, those concepts would disappear from the multiverse, things could get pretty bad after that, so by just living, you're both fulfilling your duties as dragon gods".

Hope and Morgan shared a look, and a few seconds later they both smiled at each other and then gave Ophis a big tight hug, the dragon god of infinity hugged them back and rubbed her cheeks against theirs.

Hope then said, "Thank you, Mom".

Ophis nodded "Anytime girls".

Hope and Morgan then pulled away from Ophis and then waved her goodbye, soon after both teleported away to let Ophis go back to her work, meanwhile Tiamat was trying to digest everything she just learned, so Ophis let her do so and just stood there watching her fellow dragon make all sorts of faces.

Morgan and Hope appeared inside Morgan's room. Ddraig feeling a bit sleepy, went back inside Morgan's soul, meanwhile, both girls jumped onto the bed and bounced a bit before laying down.

Morgan sighed as she looked up at the ceiling for a little bit, while Hope closed her eyes and rested then, Morgan suddenly sat up and then smiled "Hope, let's go on another adventure!".

Hope opened her eyes and gazed at Morgan "Sure, but why?".

Morgan widely smiled and then said "Well, going through adventures, experiencing new things, and meeting new people triggered our evolution, so why not keep going? Maybe we can become true dragons like Uncle Harry if we keep having adventures.

Plus, having adventures with you is the best! It's my favorite thing in the world, well besides playing with Uncle Harry that is".

Hope smiled at Morgan and then nodded "Yeah, it's my favorite thing in the world as well, okay, then let's go somewhere random!".

Morgan excitedly nodded "Ooh~ that's sound fun! Alright then" Morgan jumped off her bed and as soon her feet landed on the ground, she opened her World Jump System.

She then picked the random jump option, Hope jumped off Morgan's bed as well and landed beside her friend, her sister in all but blood, and grabbed Morgan's hand "I can't wait to see where we end up".

Morgan grinned and clicked on the World Jump System "Yeah! Let's go!" reality cracked around the girls and then shattered, it soon repaired itself but both Morgan and Hope were already on their way to another world.

~Unknown forest~

Reality cracked and then shattered, it soon fixed itself revealing Hope and Morgan, who just stood there and looked around, Morgan smiled as she saw the very beautiful forest before them "Whoa! This place is very pretty!".

Hope looked around as well, she too nodded in agreement to Morgan's opinion on the forest, but she soon noticed something peculiar about it "This forest... the amount of mana in it is staggering, I've never felt anything like it before, not even in the Mushroom Kingdom".

Morgan, hearing this, decided to try and sense the forest out, her eyes widen when she felt just how much mana was in the air, in the trees, in the ground, and even the water and grass were saturated with mana.

However, this made Morgan suddenly frown "It feels like the Forest of Death in Hima's village".

Hope nodded "Now that you mentioned, you're right, which means this place is probably saturated with natural energy as well, it's too bad we're not sages, we could have sensed just how much natural energy is in the air".

Morgan sighed "Yeah, we have to ask Uncle Harry to teach us, or maybe even Uncle Naruto, being a sage would be very useful".

Hope walked towards a little lake in the forest while nodding to Morgan "Yeah, let's add that to the list of things to learn in the near future".

Morgan agreed with Hope, while the little Potter reached the water and was awed at how clean and clear it was, she bent down and collected a bit of water inside her hands, and took a drink, she immediately smiled when she tasted the cool water "It's so cool and delicious".

Morgan turned her head towards Hope and then walked over to her, she then bent down too and looked down at the water "Really? Let me try it!".

Morgan suddenly dunked her entire head on the water and began to gulp it down, much to Hope's amusement, a few seconds later, Morgan pulled out her head out of the water and smiled happily "Your right! It's delicious!".

Hope smiled at Morgan and then pulled out an empty glass container, the kind they use to store potions, having learned how to synthesize magical medicine, taught the girls that it was a good idea to always carry empty containers.

Just in case they might find ingredients or rare plants to collect, Hope dunked the glass container into the water, and began to fill it up, Morgan tilted her head curious about what her friend was doing "You're taking some water for later?".

Hope shook her head "No, water this clean should be hard to find in the wild, my guess is, that the saturation of mana in this place had made the water special, so I want to take some to Granny Tsunade and Asia".

Morgan understood what Hope wanted to do "Ah! You want them to study it and see what's inside the water".

Hope nodded and then corked the crystal container, she took a look at the water inside it and smiled when she saw it shine a bit, this water was certainly magical in some way.

Hope then stood up and put away the crystal container in her dress pocket and then gave Morgan a smile "Let's go and explore this forest, who knows what we can find, but let's keep an eye out for trouble, we don't where we are after all.

Morgan nodded in agreement "Okay, I'm sure that with all of this mana everywhere, there's bound to be some monsters around".

Hope gave Morgan a nod, letting her know she was thinking the same thing, the girls then looked around quickly and headed towards a large tunnel-like entrance in the forest, one with a massive hollowed-out trunk tree serving as some sort of tunnel.

Both were very excited to see what new adventures awaited them in this world, as soon as the girls walked into the tunnel, a few pink orbs of light began to fly around the little lake the girls just drank water from, from the pink orbs of light, a soft bell-like ring could be heard as they flew around leaving pink sparkle trails behind them.
