Star gazing

Dahlia's eyelids felt heavy, like they desperately didn't want to open. Nevertheless, the girl persevered, pulling herself from some of the best sleep of her life and opened her eyes to see the night sky. Maybe it was because she never gave it the time it deserved, but there was a unique beauty to a clear night sky that she never properly appreciated before.

Oh, certainly she had enjoyed time under the stars and moon before, but there was something transient and ethereal about what she now saw. The sky itself seemed to shimmer in a way she had never noticed, and there were faint blues and purples within the night's black expanse that added a coloured texture to an otherwise empty canvas. Even the stars twinkled so brilliantly that she felt mesmerised; some growing fainter over time, only to return to their original intensity while others would brighten noticeably before fading altogether, only to repeat the cycle.
