Chapter 10: Funeral and song
It was a short message, but it said a lot of things
A great silence filled the room
That silence was interrupted by the sound of drops falling to the ground
It was Marcy's tears
"Mommy...."
This scene filled my heart with sadness
But I didn't want to try to cheer her up, I lost my mother myself, although it was literally a lifetime ago, it still hurts.
So I know words won't do any good
someone once said that actions speak louder than words
So I took her in my arms, with her head on my shoulder, staining me with her tears.
"I'm sorry Marcy"
(The next day)
We can see three people in the middle of the sandy ruins of a town behind a garage
all standing in front of a cross of ice paying their respects to whoever is buried under the ground
They were Marceline, Blanche and Simon
Going back to the day before
After Marcy's vent, we stayed in each other's arms until Simon arrived.
after a brief explanation and parental advice, we continue to review the place
The good news is that I finally found the damn filter in one of the ventilation systems.
Shortly after Simon approached us and spoke with Marceline seriously.
"Listen to me Marcy, when I said that I forgot something important, I wasn't lying, Blanche and I suspected that you hadn't been abandoned, we were right"
"I found... your mother, as maybe you already know, she was sick, she pushed you away because she didn't want you to see the end of her"
"She wasn't too far from a garage with an incomplete motorcycle inside, I... buried her behind the garage in an unbreakable coffin of ice, with a beautiful cross of ice that would never melt."
"Do you want to go say goodbye, Marcy?"
Marceline still had mixed feelings due to the revelation of her mother's death in the message.
On one hand, she was sad about her death, but on the other hand, she was happy to know that she hadn't abandoned her because she was a monster.

Marceline held my hand and looked at Simon with determination.
"I think I want to say goodbye Simon, thanks for looking for her"
A soft smile spread across our faces, it looks like Marcy will be able to move on.
"I'm proud of you Marcy dear, now come on, we can spend the night in the garage"
That brings us back to this moment, we are in front of the grave of Marcy's mother

Each one presented their gifts in front of the grave
Simon left an ice flower that would never go away.
Blanche put up a magically protected hand-painted portrait, he did it using the photos that Marceline had with her mother as a reference.
And finally Marceline left a simple letter, no one knew what she had written except Marceline
We had a minute of silence before we went back into the garage, Simon went to pack our bags while Marcy and I looked at the incomplete motorcycle sitting there.
"How are you feeling Marcy?" I couldn't resist asking, I was a little worried
Marceline looked me in the eyes before answering with a half smile.
"Honestly...very sad, but now I know that she didn't abandon me, that's enough for me"
"Besides, I have you and Simon now, I know everything will be fine haha"
You really are a strong girl Marcy
"You're right, we'll be by your side no matter what"
Everything is in a comfortable silence
"Hey Marcy, I know something that can lift your spirits, music, I've been working on a song since you arrived, we can sing it together if you want"
"Woow, do you also make songs? I do it too from time to time, my mom said that I have a lot of talent"

I left the garage towards my luggage and looked among my belongings for my music player and recorder, something that I repaired on my trips through the cities
Walking back to the garage I stood in front of Marcy and started playing the instrumental for the song.
"Hey Blanchie, how am I going to sing with you if I don't know the words?"
"Haha easy, just repeat after me"
I wanted it to be something fun for both of us, so I created two top hats and ice canes.
"Here Marcy, put this on and humor me"
