LSR
~~
He couldn't fathom why Old Mrs. John would come to gift the people she called the cops on only a few hours ago.
There was no end to that old woman's guts, was there?
However, when he watched the same person who had ate the chicken slump and began to have a seizure, he couldn't help but wondered if it was the bloody old woman's doings.
Although he knew her not to be a wicked person even though she liked to get her nose in other people's businesses.
He was standing in front of his house now with Duncan as they watched the burnt haven owners rushed out of their gate and zoomed off with the sick man.
When he saw Rune carrying the man up in her hands as if his weight was that of a little child, he had his mouth popped open in awe.
" Whoaa! She's strong" he heard Duncan's gasp above him.
He had to agree within himself even though he had not said that out loud. She was definitely strong to be able effortlessly lift a grown up man so easily.
Unless the man's weight was not up to 4k grams but that's not possible. Even some newly born weigh more than that.
There was no room to ponder on that longer as the unsmiling black man who seemed to be the or who called the shots amongst the burnt haven owners and the duos who were always clung onto one another rushed out after- they were in the car while Rune shepherded the sick one into it.
LSR was able to visualize the number and just who were in the car because it was easy to see the black who drove the car as he had his head popped out, fuming at, visibly angry. The couples got out of the passenger seats to assist Rune in shepherding the sick one in.
With the way Rune had rushed out without waiting to get inside the car while they were in the four walls of their house and gates away from the outsiders eyes like himself, he knew there was some sort of disagreement between them.
Something about him didn't like the thought of that. He found himself not liking Rune getting in trouble.
As they zoomed off, it didn't take two moments of the blinking eyes for the other burnt haven owners to get out of the house. The crazy Vidal was among them and also Rune's twin sister with Vidal's obvious partner in crime and also one other lady.
" Uh-uh, shits is about to get real" gasped Duncan again beside him as the group made their way to Old Mrs. John's house.
" I think they should just call the cops instead of going on a confrontation with the old woman" LSR started loudly his disapproval at the burnt haven owners whom he knew were definitely going to question Old Mrs.John about the fried chicken.
Would he be right if he called it poisoned fried chicken?
No jumping to conclusions, he concluded.
He heard the most absurd thing from his friend which did not come as a surprise to him even. " I think they are going to kill her. Oh, they are going to kill her LSR, i bet you on it!" His friend grumbled, circling his hand above LSR's head.
In irritation at his ridiculous mentality, LSR slapped away Duncan's hand that was encircling round his head. " Are they as dumb as you Duncan? Why will they kill her?" he hollered as he decided against waiting in the terrace any longer since the show was over. It was not as though they could follow the burnt haven owners up to Old Mrs. John's door nor could they watch the scene from where they stood.
The cold of the winter was already getting on his chest all thanks to the casual polo shirt he wore. Soon, they would be shoving off blocks of snow away from their front door when the street gets overriden with it.
" Let's wait a bit more" Duncan grumbled as LSR wheeled himself inside the house.
LSR shook his head shortly, his friend was hopeless. " Did you tell your ma you will be staying over for the night? If not then get your ass home young man" LSR said to his friend sternly.
He wanted no problem with Duncan's mother again. He was an only child and so, was over cherished by his mother in LSR's terms. She could allow him stay the night over at his place multiple times when he was all alone and Zakariah had to work overnight at Ink but would go wild if Duncan stayed without alerting her.
Duncan had marched in too and had shut the door behind him. " I did my dear LSR, you need me now more than ever"
" How sweet" LSR gave a false smile and grumbled when he saw Kate crunching a pack of chips while her eyes were glued to the TV screen.
He had almost forgotten there was an intruder in his home. One sent by his brother and it was an annoying intruder at that.
" I can never get used to having a girl sit in your sitting room, LSR" Duncan sighed as he slumped his heavy weight on the poor three seater sofa.
" Same way I can never get used to hearing a sofa hiss so loudly upon a young man's butt on it!" Kate fired sharply in retaliation at Duncan.
That girl!
LSR knew not if he should laugh at how ridiculously mean and accurate Kate's words were or the dirty look on Duncan's face.
He settled at being the reasonable one. " Beautiful ladies don't say mean words to gentlemen" he said as a matter of factly making sure his words were directed to no one while their point was being delivered.
Slam!
Kate's hands landed on his as he outstretched them to take one out of the packet of chips she dropped on the center table of the sitting room.
" You told me dear Asher that you were going over to the next door to have your dinner and not to make dinner for you so, don't you touch my chips without my consent" she pronounced to him, making sure to stress every word as they escaped her mouth.
Speak of sheer guts and absurdity!
Chips his own brother had given her money for?
" Is chips dinner?!" He bellowed, his blood rising higher in heat.
Kate crunched loudly before answering him ever so calmly as if she wasn't the one who just summoned his anger. " Nice gentlemen don't go snacking on chips after having a sumptuous dinner with next door neighbors" she retorted using the tone at which he ended she and Duncan's brewing argument.
Gosh, girls!
" Well, dinner was ruined" Duncan supplied, bent over to take the packet of chips before Kate could notice and tore apart its nylon.
Kate seemed to overlook that action of Devarn at his words of gossip. " Really? What happened?" she shifted close to him with interest.
LSR watched the both of them snack on the chips as Devarn began to fill Kate in on what transpired in the burnt haven.
She would let Duncan have the chips because he was going to gossip with her?
Why the hell was she bossing up on him at his own house? Not his house, his brother's.
He knew why, Zakariah must have spoken so poorly of him to her that the stupid girl lost all sense of respect towards him before even meeting him.
Rolling his eyes in frustration, " I hate girls!" he fumed silently and began to wheel himself to his room.
Girls were always the one to get him in trouble and also the ones who makes him feel so unworthy mostly with their indifferent attitude towards him.
" Not so fast dear Asher" he heard Kate announced behind him and he halted.
Her pronouncement was not what made him halt at first. He had stopped abruptly when he saw mud on the floor just by the kitchen's entrance.
How did mud get in the house?
When knocks resounded on the entrance door, he turned.
"Zakariah is here finally" he muttered to himself as he watched Kate go get the door.
However, Zakariah wasn't the one by the door but two policemen asking for him.
But still, that wasn't what made him frown right now. How come Kate had already stopped him as if she had predicted the door would get knocked upon even before it was?
" Not LSR again!" Duncan grumbled for him.
Yes, not him again. He was meeting the cops more often now ever since his accident.
Ever since he saw that figure in the burnt haven den, his life had taken a pledge not to remain the same.
This time, his heart was thumping as he set thoughts about Kate aside and wondered if the cops were here to take him to the precinct as Zakariah had mentioned to him.
But Zakariah said weeks not now. It better be weeks for he had no answers to any questions the cops could probably want now.
" We need your presence over at the station for some questioning," one of the policemen said and he groaned.
There was no way in hell he would do this alone without getting himself in more trouble. Not with Zakariah being absent.
