20 days to my wedding and I'm pregnant

Corey's uncle had said to him that women were demanding, distracting, useless, attention seekers and everything about them was of no use. His explanation sounded so harsh so Corey thought his uncle had faced such to tell him his experience.

He nodded his head then and told himself never to let a woman get in his way. Now, this fair skin lady was making everything difficult for him. Just to get her to her house, she was being all dramatic and they really were attention seekers and so useless.

He glanced her way to see her head fall so he got worried but trashed his worried feelings. She was just being all dramatic again.

In a few minutes, she lifted her head and peered through the window. It wasn't awkward for the silence to grow between them because they were more like strangers.

Meanwhile, anger continued to eat Claire up as she stared into space. With her head facing down, she remembered everything he did to her in college. He bullied her when he was nice to every other girl and just because she loved him so much, she kept chasing him until he did something that pissed her off for years.

Recently, a month ago, she dreamt about him. It was a beautiful dream and she decided to follow her feelings and dream so she accepted the wedding and now she was feeling as hurt as she was years ago.

And when tears began to fall from her eyes she wasn't aware. Why do you keep doing this to me, Donald? She asked internally and sighed. This made Corey look her way and wondered why she was sighing. She had been staring that way for too long so his worries made him go against himself.

"Are you okay? Do you need water?" He asked. However, no response was offered so he tilted his head to look at her. "Claire, answer me," he pushed a little.

"Useless things don't need to survive, do they?" She answered with a question that made him question himself. She took his words seriously which was what he wanted but didn't expect this reaction.

"You aren't useless, I shouldn't have used that word on you," he corrected.

"I'm stupid?" She finally looked his way and her face looked swollen. She was still drunk.

"No," he answered.

"Of course, I'm stupid. Chasing a dog that isn't mine," she chuckled. "You know what?" Claire swallowed with closed eyes. When she opened them, she saw him staring at her. "I'm sorry," she surprised him. "Yes," her voice sounded sarcastic. "It's my fault. I shouldn't have run after you and agree to the wedding. What was I thinking?" She looked away, her tears dropping. "We aren't married yet and all this..." She scoffed and pressed her head down. "It hurts," he heard her pain.

Corey felt weak somewhere around his heart. He didn't want to say sorry and didn't want to get her into his arms so he focused on driving and eventually got to her house.

He helped her out and pulled off her heels before leading her into her house. The servants offered to help but he refused and asked for her room.

Clare fell in bed and went to sleep, Corey who let her fall sighed. He had something to tell her so he didn't leave. His gut couldn't let him so he sat somewhere in the room and decided to use his cell phone.

He was still using Donald's cellphone and planning to get a new one. He saw that his brother liked women because almost every photo was pictures of half-naked girls and he had so many messages from his girls. Was this the jerk Claire was going to get married to?

He lifted his gaze at her to see her sleeping with her legs wide open so he went to cover her with the bedsheet. "You are so stupid to like a man like my brother, no wonder my uncle calls women useless," he muttered under his breath.

Her room had enough space and everywhere was full of different types of chairs. Chairs were mostly placed by the window and he wondered why she had such in her room. He stood up and rambled through corners of her room to find a balcony. He went in to see a bed-like chair. It looked so comfortable so he went forward. He was tempted to sit on the soft-looking chair so he didn't resist it. He pressed his butt on the bed and began to push back so he could lie on it but he touched something and brought it out gently to see it was a book. He could read but was not as good as literate.

'20 days to my wedding and I'm pregnant' was the book's name. He wondered why she'd read such a book. Well, the chair bed was so comfy that he found himself pushing back to sit and rest his back on it. He began to open the pages and saw a bookmark. It was like a paper and written on it was; I need to take a break, don't want to finish the book yet. And some emoji were drawn on it. He couldn't deny how much he loved the bookmark.

He checked the page she was to see it was 176 and she was still going to 321. That was so long. Earlier in her room, he saw a bookshelf placed next to her bed. That shelf was full of books and because there wasn't any more space, he noticed.

She arranged some on her study, a woman who reads a lot. She wasn't useless after all because he couldn't read as much as she could. He had dropped out of school since his family abandoned him and only attended junior high in the village and spent his life farming so he needed to read more to become the man he wants to be.

He left the bookmark on page 176 and went to the first page, he read about the place it was published and other information about the book publication which wasn't necessary but he didn't know it wasn't part of the novel.

He went forward to read the author's note and that took him minutes because he read each word one by one. He wished he could read better.
