Fear of gun

Reaching school the next morning, Kiran didn't waste time as he started informing Caleb of what happened yesterday on how they almost got beaten up.

Caleb couldn't stop himself from laughing as Kiran finished telling him all that happened. Mikey didn't say anything as he just kept quiet.

"Come on man, why are you so quiet?, haven't you overcome the shock of seeing a gun?" asked Caleb as he tap on Mikey shoulder.

"I'm not scared okay?, I just don't have anything to say right now" replied Mikey as he put his head on the desk.

"Mikey look at who's waving at you, it's Lydia" said Caleb, but Mikey didn't raise his head or even show any sign of being interested.

"She's even saying I should tell you to meet her" seconded Kiran but there was still no sign of Mikey raising up his head.

"Mikey what's it, are you sure you are okay?" asked Caleb as Mikey wasn't responding to them.

"Come on, you can tell us whatsoever is bothering you, you know we always have your back, don't you?" said Kiran.

"I know, but I'm okay, I just want a quiet time" replied Mikey.

Caleb and Kiran look at each other after hearing the words of Mikey. Never have they seen him this down before, he was always the playful one among the three.

"Good morning class" said a teacher as she walked into the class, distracting everyone from their thoughts.

"Morning Mrs Philip" replied the class as they arrange themselves.

Throughout the whole lesson, Mikey wasn't active at all, he was just looking at the board without applying any of his thoughts to the lessons.

After the lessons was over for the day, Kiran and Caleb couldn't take it anymore as they walked towards Lydia.

"Hi Lydia, hope you don't mind we having a little talk with you?" asked Kiran as they approached her.

"What's it" replied Lydia as she look at them.

"I won't beat around the bush because I clearly know only you have the right to decline or agree so there's no need for me to select my words. Please do you mind having a word with Mikey, the fact that your guards show a gun made him traumatized" said Kiran.

"So!!, what do you want me to do, I clearly warned him not to follow me" replied Lydia.

"She do have a point you know" said Caleb.

"Shut your mouth Caleb" said Kiran as he look at him before turning back to face Lydia. "Can't you see the state Mikey is in, have you ever seen him so lost before?" asked Kiran to Lydia.

"So are you trying to telling me that he's in that state all because of the sight of gun?" asked Lydia. "Isn't his father always with guards who hold guns, so why?".

"I don't really know the reason, but that isn't really the issue because people react differently to same issue" replied Kiran.

"Then why do you think I might be of help, aren't the two of you his best friends" said Lydia.

"It's because you put him in that state, if only he wasn't head over heels for you, then he won't have tail you" replied Kiran.

"This isn't the first time I'm being told that, just leave me alone, don't worry, he will get over it" said Lydia as she pick her bag to leave, but turn back after some steps. "Weren't you there with him, why didn't you tell him it was a bad idea when he suggested it, instead you follow" said Lydia before leave.

"Well at least we tried" said Caleb as he look at the leaving figure of Lydia.

"What's the word 'we' finding there, you didn't even say anything" replied Kiran as he gave him a hard stare.

Walking back to their seat, they could see Mikey still resting his head on the desk. After tapping him, he raise his head before carrying his bag for them to leave.

"Mikey, how about we go to my place, I'm sure your dad is not at home right now* suggested Kiran.

Caleb was already long gone as his driver came early, leaving just Mikey and Kiran waiting for their ride.

"Don't worry I'm okay, I have something to do at home" replied Kiran.

"Let's go, you can do it later" said Kiran as he drag him over to his mom car.

Before leaving, he gave Mikey driver the information that Mikey would be staying in his place for some hours which Mikey nodded to.

"Good afternoon mom" greeted Kiran as he opened the door of the car.

"Good afternoon Mrs Hendrick" greeted Mikey as he enter.

"Afternoon, how was school today?, why do you look so down Mikey?" asked Jenny.

"Mom, how do you know?" asked Kiran as he was surprised, because Mikey was smiling as he didn't show any sign of his early attitude.

"it's a trait of being a mother. So why are you down Mikey, did you get into trouble?" asked Jenny.

"I'm okay Mrs Hendrick, it's just a slight fever" replied Mikey.

On hearing the words of Mikey, Hendrick use the back of her hand to touch his forehead so as to check his temperature.

"You are a little bit hot, I will call doctor Philip so he can examine you" said Jenny.

"You don't have to Mrs Hendrick, I'm sure it's just a minor fever" said Kiran.

"Fever is fever Mikey, there's no such as a minor fever, if you don't treat it in time, then it can get worst" said Jenny as she start the car before riding out of the school.

"Yeah Mikey, I think you should listen to my mom, you don't want it getting worst, do you?" said Kiran as he jumped into the matter. "I definitely won't be taking care of you" said Kiran as he started laughing.

"I would rather have a year old take care of me than you Kiran" said Mikey as he chuckled a little.

Staying in Kiran place for some time, his mood that was once dull manage to elevate as he was no longer the same Mikey of six hours ago.
