Chapter 22

"Are you okay? You almost fell." Lin asked. Bizzare as it was, her voice seemed to be warm.

"Am I?" Chen replied with a question, before looking at Tarrlok.

He regained his balance, and Lin pulled her hand back. She looked at the fallen burned man. Tarrlok, who had blood bent everyone and was about to leave, was now on the ground, defeated.

"That was the best lightning bending I have ever seen," Tenzin said, walking and putting his hands behind his back.  "And that speed of yours. I have only seen a blur of you."

"I thought I have told you to keep distance and shoot lightning from far," Lin said, scolding. "You have any idea what may happen if you failed!? There was no need for you to be stylish."

Chen walked a step away from Lin. He rubbed his ear. The volume of her voice was so high.

"I have found his weakness, and I wanted to test it," Chen said.

Lin crossed her arms on her chest. She asked, "And what's that weakness."

Chen had told her that Amon was a bloodbender when he was at the hospital.

Knowing the weakness of a bloodbender, the most fearsome type of bending, was a must question.

"Tarrlok will tell you more about Amon, who is way more powerful than just any bloodbender. I don't think defeating him would be as easy as defeating Tarrlok." Chen said. "Anyway, the weakness I noticed was that he needs to see you in order to capture you under his bending. There is a small time frame before their bending takes effect. There is one way to defeat them."

Chen lifted his head and took a deep breath. He thought about the rematch between him and Amon.

If this battle were to happen, it would be between the most advanced lightningbending and bloodbender.

"Spell it already!" Korra said, her tits shaking. She didn't seem to know that Amon is a bloodbender yet, or maybe she knew. She would at any rate.

He turned to Korra and said. "Speed is what you need. The fastest man would win."

Upon hearing his reply, Korra exhaled, frustrated. Her locks were pushed.

"And obviously you are the one who can move that fast."

"Not neccessary," Tenzin said. "In airbending, there are techniques to increase your speed."

'The fastest man in the west would win.' That's how Chen thought.

As he and Korra were talking, Beifong bent down and put her hand on Tarrlok. The metal on her armour tied Tarrlok.

"So you said that they need to see or use their eyes." She asked.

Chen nodded.

"Okay, this should fix it." She reached into her pocket, and she grabbed a piece of clothes. She wrapped around Tarrlok's eyes. "This way, he won't look at us, neither will he move."

He should admit. She was surely a wise cougar, who knew how to do her job. But she didn't seem to know how to manage her life.

"If what you were saying is true, then Amon would, at some point, try to free Tarrlok. In any case, he will be welcomed to attack the police station."

"I wouldn't underestimate him."

"We have you, and the Avatar." She said, looking at Chen at first before turning to Korra.

Tenzin stepped in. "The Avatar is still under her training. She can't fight yet."

Korra stomped on her feet. "But I'm still the Avatar. It's my duty."

"An Avatar who is under training," Tenzin said firmly.

Chen took a deep breath. "Wanna head out? I'm sick out of this place."

"Chen, by the way," Korra said. "I thought that I've learnt from the best firebenders around. But your fire, the purple colour that it has, how did you make it."

"I'm self-taught." Chen smiled at her. "You learn, and then discover the rest. Don't let yourself be limited but what you have been taught."

"I see. I'll use that advice and kick your ass in the tournament." She said, challenging.

Chen turned his head and exhaled a chuckle.

Tenzin sighed, and Lin rolled her eyes. Chen simply ignored her. "I need a drink."

"And I need to interrogate this guy,"  Lin said.

"I'll come with you," Chen said. "Hope you don't mind it, chief."

"So be it." She sighed at him. "Don't say or do anything. Anyway, I need you to be close, so I can confirm what you've said."

-x-X-x-

Everyone moved to the police station. Chen was sitting on a chair, staring at the insulating glass toward the interrogation room.

Tarrlok was still sleeping. The amount of lightning Chen used had been enough to knock out an elephant. Tarrlok had slept for many hours, and he didn't show signs of waking up.

It made Chen doubt that he rose the bloodbender's heat and that he might have burned a few brain cells. Lightning could be so dangerous if it was sustained for too long. And by too long, he meant more than a second. It can hurt Chen's arm just as it could hurt Tarrlok.

"Chen," called Tenzin.

"Yes," Chen replied.

Tenzin turned his head. "I may be wrong, but lightning isn't to be controlled as you have done. It's only released. But you seem to do it differently."

Chen shrugged his shoulder. "People need to learn more about Chi's yin and yang. Lightningbending is just like any advanced form. But training it is so risky for the user that it can kill them."

"I see," Tenzin said. "And you didn't fear death while training it?"

Chen nodded. It's not that he trained it anyway. The system did.

"Oh, can I see that?" Korra asked.

Chen lowered his head and sighed. He lifted his hand, and he muttered. "This is called the lightning grip, you can say." He released small lighting from one hand. Chen changed the attribute of his Chi in his hand. The lightning held still around his arm, forming a ball with flew small bolts moving around.

Tenzin and Korra flinched.

The lightning seemed to sustain its form in the air. It released a strong light that almost blinded everyone. It was controlled by the effect of the positive Chi. Chen could move it a bit with his hand and hold it. He then absorbed it back into his body.

One of the befits of this skill is that you change the direction of lighting in the air.

Tenzin said. "With a talented man like you, the white lotus would benefit a lot. Would you like to join our Airbending Temple Island?"

"No." Chen shook his head. "I'll pass."

"And why. You would benefit a lot."

"I'm too lazy for such a job," Chen said.

Korra lowered her head and sighed. She then pointed at the mirror and said.

"Look he's waking up." She narrowed her eyebrows. "I never liked that guy, not ever since he tried to manipulate me."

Lin Beifong placed her naked foot on his knee. This way, she could assure that he can't lie.

"Wake up you maggot."

"Where am I?" Tarrlok tried to move his head, but he couldn't. He was shackled from head to toe.

He looked at Lin. "Police Chief, do you realise the gravity of the crime you are committing? I am a member of this City's council. When the president is back, he wouldn't forgive you for abusing your power."

"Save your breaths for answering my questions." Lin let her face closer to his, frowning. "The only thing I'm going to abuse is my power to beat the shit out of you if you played me. Now bloodbender, you may not realise what happened."

Tarrlok blinked twice. He seemed to recall something, and he opened his eyes widely.

"I can guess you are shocked." She said. "Each cell in your body is shaking as if it had been electrocuted."

"That guy," Tarrlok muttered. "I thought I bloodbent him. But I didn't see him with that fire of his. The next second, he was behind him, holding me. Without any stance, he electrocuted me?"

"Reckless, I know." She said. "I only told him to take you down from distance, but he seems to want to know your weakness."

"My weakness?" he raised his eyebrow as if he was mocking her stupid question.

"More likely, your brother's weakness." Beifong didn't seem to buy his poker face.

"My brother? What the hell are you talking about?" he replied, however, his eyelids shook. He seemed to be eager to know the answer.

"For now, he's Amon." She said.

Tarrlok's eyelids shook. "He's alive, as Amon."

"Yes, and apparently, he's a bloodbender, like you."

"Who told you that?"

"I have my source, and I'm not going to give it to you?"

"Let me guess. The firebender who knocked me out?"

Lin pinched his nose. "I'm the one who asks questions here. Got it?"

"Whatever. That's a happy surprise anyway" He said, smiling. "My brother is way stronger bloodbender than I am. The moment he learns I'm here, I guess the revolution is upon us."

Chen narrowed his eyebrows. What he knew was that Tarrlok was against Amon in canon. However, here Tarrlok doesn't seem to oppose Amon's actions. He seemed to miss him more.

Chen could guess the reason. In canon, the older brother took Tarrlok's bending. But in this timeline, he hadn't. Tarrlok was more approving of his older brother now that he had been caught.

Seeing that this conversation wasn't going to reveal any kind of more weakness, Chen stood up and turned to leave.

"I'm leaving." He stretched his arms up and walked away.

"Hey! Chen, when we meet again?" Korra said.

When he turned to her, questioning her intent with his facial expression, she smiled.

"I was just wondering since both we're involved in this."

"I'm not involved in this. Lin asked for my help and I did, for personal reasons." Chen replied. "I'll see you in the tournament."

"Oh, by the way, I've qualified with my team too. So, prepare to get your ass kicked." She said.

Chen cocked his head. "Did you pay the tournament fee in the first place?"

He seemed to recall a part of the TV show.

"No."

Chen put his hand under his chin, and he thought of what may happen. He remembered a small detail.

"Revelation." He muttered.

"Excuse me?" she blinked twice.

"The revelation." He repeated. "I may be wrong. Go and find your fat friend, he is in danger."

"What, what kind of danger."

"That, find it out yourself. The triads would gather, and someone may pull your teammates." Chen then walked to the exit. He may have changed the timeline so much, so he may be wrong.  "That's all I can say."  He then sorted.
