A shot in the dark pt.2

Beomgyu's pov

I wiped my mouth clean after my empty stomach embarrassed the hell out of me in front of Cass and now I have to think hard on whatever explanation I could find to justify what I just did, on purpose or not.

She will definitely take offense for it so I had to make something sound convincing without giving any hint about what's happening. My pride refuse to admit that I'm this weak inside or else she might try to use that against me instead.

Shoot. The wide glass windows just exposed everything and now making up excuses will definitely escalate the situation. Even when what's going on isn't as simple as the black and white interior of the vessel we're on.

I took a deep breath and approached the door after washing my mouth using a small bottled water lying on the corner plastic table. I figured it's better to apologize first before taking another shower at the bathroom across her.

I was prepared to hear complaints and insults, not a woman sitting on the bed and staring blankly at the painting of eight running horses over the white wall.

She's still wrapped with towel and her wavy long hair was free falling over the right side of her shoulder. I was about to call her when she suddenly wiped her face with her fingers and began dressing up in silence.

She must be so upset and I'm equally ashamed of myself so I stepped back and tiptoed upstairs to join the captain in the control room.

"Boss, are you sure you would want to sleep in here?" He doesn't just looked surprised but overall cringing at the thought of two men sharing a cabin out of all the wide spaces available in or out.

It's painted all over his tanned face. Sadly, I'm not gonna sleep outside and get feasted by bloodsucking insects no matter how comfortable the reclining chairs look and feel.

"Do I have to say it twice?"

He cleared his throat. That was the last time he spoke. There's a pair of curved sofas to lay down onto anyway. The only problem was the next morning, I woke up alone and worse, my wife was nowhere in sight.

"Where's Cass?" I asked our guide rummaging the cramped kitchen table after wasting my time finding her in every nook and cranny.

This big guy in his thirties with blonde highlights just yawned at me while making himself a black coffee. "Sorry no idea. I haven't even seen her yet."

It was still around six in the morning and there's not even an island nearby.

The weather is slightly dark on one side and those clouds are fast approaching. Not something to get too alarmed yet but as a safety precaution we might need to return before nightfall.

"Cassandra!" I called again and again. As expected, no one responded. I swept the whole yacht once more and still never found her. I'm starting to worry because her small, black suitcase is still underneath the bed and the white, fluffy blanket was left unused.

"Boss, perhaps we should call your parents." My companion suggested but I'm still conflicted. Despite everything there's no way she'll dip out since she swore to protect me at all costs.

"Nah." I sighed deeply while staring at the deep blue waves slowly banging against the bottom of the yacht. "She probably rode one of the jet skis and went somewhere to jumpstart her day. Let's wait for her."

We agreed at first, however, just a couple of minutes later he walked back out and shared the bad news.

"B-Boss!"

"What?" I asked without looking. I'm beginning to feel annoyed because this was all my fault. If I only tried harder, she wouldn't have felt like a stranger.

"The pair of jet skis are still locked down as well as the lifeboats!" He rushed towards the edges to check for any possible signs of struggle yet there was none visible.

I followed him closely and picked the binoculars again to make sure she hasn't accidentally fell down and for whatever reason couldn't swim back to the resting boat.

"I'm calling your father."
