Village of Xir 2

Chapter 6 Village of Xir 2

(Have not been proofread)

I did not know why these creatures have appeared before me, but it seems that they were hunting me. I could not help but fight against them as they were relentless.

Their crazy red eyes suggest that they are enraged and have a hint of derangement in them.

Right now, in front of me, there stand 3 monsters. One of them is on all fours while the other two stand on their hind legs. The one on all fours has a long snout and seems to be called a Grator, while the other two are called Marsh Stalker and Were Tiger.

These memories are truly fascinating. This information would pop up from my subconscious mind and would be of great help to me.

As I look at the three creatures, I could not help but heave a sigh as I know that escape is not an option.

Brandishing my weapons and readying my skills, I prepare myself to battle them.

It has been 2 hours since I fought those three.

My body is full of wounds, but I did not die. I guess my training in that dangerous forest has helped me survive this predicament.

Looking at the corpses in front of me, my head seems to feel a bit of an ache. I know that these corpses could present a possible problem later.

"Should I just bury them?" I muttered.

But the rustling sound behind me… woke me from my stupor.

"Did… Did you just kill those beasts?" a slightly stupefied and weak voice asked.

I knew that it was Yan Xhiling.

"Umm… Yes, I have to…" I said calmly.

"This is unbelievable… You have a lot of wounds… Let me help you…" she suddenly said as she walked towards me.

"No, I'm fine… Let's just think of a way to dispose of these things…" I said without turning towards her.

"We can just harvest their important parts and bring them with us. For the rest, we can just throw them away…" she suggested.

I thought of the same thing but I'm not sure what she means by harvest.

In my travels, I would only take some important parts as I did not have time to carry anything while escaping.

She quickly walked back inside the tree hole. As soon as she emerges, she is already holding a short sword in her hand.

The two of us began working and quickly harvested what we intended to harvest before noon.

While resting inside the tree hole, she busies herself cooking our meal and also processed some of the meat we acquired.

"Hey, little brother… Are you really… blind?" she suddenly asked.

I was stumped and did not know what to say, so I just nodded my head.

"I almost could not believe it… I mean… It's like you can still see… everything." she muttered.

I did not reply to that and just continue with my task.

Soon it was already dusk when we finished.

"Let's just stay here for today and travel tomorrow…" I suggested which she agreed by nodding her head.

The rest of the night was uneventful as the two of us did not talk to each other that much. We just shared a few stories and what I learned about the young woman is nothing that conclusive.

All I know is that she is an assassin from the kingdom of Fenshin.

I also gained a few common knowledge about this place I am in right now.

The year is 2630; almost 600 plus years have passed ever since this world has experienced the so-called Ether energy appearance. The reason for the appearance of Ether energy is that, at that time, the ozone layer protecting the planet was partly depleted.

And so, the various unknown energy from space began to bombard the planet causing apocalyptic destruction.

The accumulation of such chaotic energy transformed the whole planet and gradually that chaotic energy turned into Ether energy.

The surviving species of the planet were changed, the continents shifted and the size of the planet doubles its previous size.

Many have died in adapting to the new environment but those that were able to adapt survived.

After hearing the story which she called, world history, I began to think deeply about my purpose on how to continue living.

In this world filled with monsters, there are places where humans could live. And the most secure of those places are the Mega Cities.

Villages and towns are somewhat secure, but Mega Cities where the kingdom and the empire's main forces are present are safer.

Upon thinking about this point, I have already decided to visit one of these Mega Cities. It has perked my curiosity on how secure truly are those things.

The next day…

"It will take us about a day to reach the village of Xir..." she said while the two of us are walking.

"I just want to warn you though… Do not show your food in the village. It would cause you a lot of trouble…" she warned.

I nodded my head in acknowledgment.

Soon, it was already late noon when we noticed a few foot traffics walking on the dirt road.

"We are here!" Yan Xhiling exclaimed as she showed a deep sigh and walked a bit faster.

Entering the village is not that hard as there are no guards or soldiers truly checking anything.

As soon as we enter the village of Xir, we were greeted with a small commotion ahead of us.

"Remove that filthy carriage of yours!" shouted a deep voice.

I noticed a man wearing a piece of metal armor on his chest while his body is covered with leather armor.

His face is covered by his thick black beard and he has a long scar across his right eye.

"Sir, wait for a minute, we will try our best to move everything faster…" a panicking middle-aged farmer-looking person said with a trembling tone.

The rest of the people with him moved as fast as they could.

The street is now filled with onlookers who just watch the scene before them without help.

The bearded guy frowns in annoyance and glared at the middle-aged farmer.

"Failong… Do not intimidate them… we can wait…" a graceful voice stopped the bearded man from complaining.

He just grumpily sat on his mount while glaring at the people in front of him.

Inside the carriage sits three women wearing veils on their faces and ancient-looking cyan-colored robes.

"Senior Sister Han, you're too nice to these… mortals…" one of the young women inside said while her voice upon saying the last words almost turned into a whisper.

She has that teasing and naughty look in her eyes.

But all of the young women inside the carriage heard her.

They all look at her with warning gazes.

"We are just visiting… We do not need to get too much attention…" the woman with a graceful voice reminded the group.

"Sigh… I wish we could stay here more… This place is more fun than the sect." the naughty-looking young woman grumbled.

"You know we cannot do that. Unless we start taking missions then we cannot go out of the sect casually." The other one reminded her.

"But taking missions is far too dangerous… I don't want to put my life on the line, you know…" she grumbled.

"Sigh… I did not know how you were able to enter the sect, but with your attitude, you cannot reach the higher realms…" the graceful voice woman commented.

"I don't care… I'll just marry one of the senior brothers in the sect… Hihi…"

The two look at each other and shake their heads in helplessness. They already knew the attitude of this friend of theirs. She is far too relaxed when it comes to her practice and likes to flirt with anyone in the sect.

However, she was part of their original group of friends, so they could not help but understand her antics and playful attitude.

Not long later, the carriage began moving but then suddenly it once again stopped. Before everyone could react, a group of soldiers ran to surround the carriage along with their escorts.

"What is the meaning of this?" Failong the bearded man shouted in anger.

He could not believe that these lowly bastards would block their path.

But before anyone could say anything a playful voice attracted their attention.

"Hihi… We don't want any trouble… I just wanted to welcome our special guests to our humble village. You might not know it, but… if you want to stay in a more relaxing and wonderful place in this small village… my place is the best…" a man wearing a shaman's robe walked out of a simple-looking wooden carriage.

The air around the man is full of arrogance and pride as he walked toward the group with his nose in the air.

The soldiers moved to the side to make way for the man.

As he appears before Failong and his group of guards, everyone has already known who this guy is.

In this village, everyone knows the hero who has saved them from the curse. He was the shaman who was lauded by everyone as the hero of the village of Xir… Shaman Lao Hai.
