An opportunity others beg for yet can never obtain has today fallen onto his daughter. How could he not seize it?
"But..."
Ya Nian'er still had her hesitations, glancing again at Ya Molian.
The man was a notable figure in their village, it was widely known that Ya Molian had quite a fortune, she, of course, desired such wealth.
Yet at the moment, Ya Molian was unconscious, with no apparent injury or blood, she couldn't help but wonder if he was suffering from some hidden ailment?
Otherwise, why would the numerous suitors who came to his door proposing marriage never got his approval?
The more she thought about it, the more likely this seemed.
Even if he was wealthy, if it meant marrying a man with health problems, how could she agree? She was the most beautiful girl in the village, she could choose any man she desired.
"Father, let's not push it. If Ya Molian wakes up and finds out we've been scheming, he might flare up..."
She shook her head, still not daring to take such a step.
"What anger? For Ya Molian to marry my precious little girl is the luck of his entire lineage!" the man huffed in annoyance.
What could he do once he woke up and everything had been settled? Would he dare to weasel his way out of it?
Even if he wanted to defy, he'd have to be capable of doing so.
"Nian'er, listen to your father. This is a rare opportunity, understand? Just undress and get in the bed. Once it's done, I'll make Ya Molian our stay-at-home son-in-law, making all his money ours."
He dreamily thought about having Ya Molian at home as his son-in-law, then all the cubilose he harvested or game he hunted would be theirs, to consume or to sell at their discretion.
Moreover, since he would be their son-in-law, all the household chores could be dumped on him, making life easier for the man.
What a swell deal, killing two birds with one stone!
"I...."
"Big sister, are you waiting for Brother Molian to wake up?"
As Ya Nian'er hesitated, Ya Sui'er, pale-faced, reminded her.
She had offered herself, but Father insisted on sending Big sister. Yet judging by Big sister's reluctance...
"Big sister, are you still dreaming of a more promising family? Brother Molian is already good enough. Look not just in our village but even beyond, are there any men as capable as Ya Molian?
He can harvest cubilose and hunt; the best part is there are no elderly at home. So, there's no worry about serving in-laws – you can do as you please. Despite all this, you still balk; are you just being foolish?"
"I...."
Upon her sister's reminder, Ya Nian'er came back to reality.
Indeed, as long as he has enough money for her to spend, why should she care about his health? She, Ya Nian'er, was no pushover; if he was truly troublesome, she could just kick him out once he had earned enough.
Thinking of this, her hesitation disappeared.
"Father, you go out and watch the door with little sister, I...."
"What do you want to do?"
Before she could finish, a deep voice sounded next to her ear.
The trio was startled and turned to look at Ya Molian on the bed, almost screaming out loud.
Unknown to them, Ya Molian had regained consciousness and his eyes now filled with anger, looking at the three people before him.
