Chapter 16

Haru stopped his ride and stared forward.

Currently, he was at the top of one of two peaks, which faced each other.

The small army should pass by this area.

Haru knew that he has to change things to his advantage.

Since he was moving alone with a fast ride, he could reach here before the firebenders would.

Haru thought of dropping things on them from such a distance, but that sounded like a lousy idea. They can always blast the rocks with their fire.

Maybe, it should be better to direct their movement by creating obstetrical in their path, before cornering them.

Haru bent down and put his hand on the peak. A clear image of the surroundings came to his head.

Ever since he increased the level of his Earthbending, not only did it require him less movement and Chi to do more incredible feats, but his sensing range increased.

Haru waved his hand forward.

The peak started shifting its shape, and the rocks started falling between them. Haru didn't turn them into a wall. If he did, then the enemy will find out about him.

Haru took a step forward and thrust his hands. The ground under him shifted its shape and pushed him flying to the other peak. He waved his hands in the air many times, before landing on the other side, flipping on the ground a few times before standing up.

'Okay, let's make them head to that path.'

-x-X-x-

The fire nation troop was moving in the west direction. The one on their lead, a man clouded in red armour and red helmet was leading forward.

When he reached the path they were supposed to take, it was full of large rocks. They couldn't cross this path.

"Captain, what should we do?" His vice approached him and asked. "Should we dig in."

"No… it will take too much time and unnecessary effort" the captain said as he looked between the peaks.

"It seems that the peaks crumbled. It could be an earthquake."

"So be it." The captain thought for a bit before he turned to his men and said. "Let's take the path around the mountain range."

The other soldiers nodded and changed their path. Although there were some groans and complaints, nobody wanted to spend extra effort to dig their way.

-x-X-x-

Haru, who had been gliding on the ground and raising his hands, creating extra-large walls whenever he passes, stopped and sighed.

This way, he would corner the troops between the mountain and the 6 meters long walls. At first, they will enter this road, only to realise that there are some natural walls. Haru had also created obstacles outside the wall and the mountain, which should force them to head in this direction.

He made sure that when they pass by here, they won't have enough space to attack him at once.

He then stared at the hole that was behind him, a very large one. Haru moved his hand, dust flying above it. Once he closed his fist, the dust compressed and closed the hole, making a flat land, which will look awkwardly flat to anyone who passes by place.

Haru tapped his foot on the ground, shifting its shape and making it raise. Haru then walked to the corner and sat down.

This way, he will get his Chi back. He had used it a lot. But luckily, he had a giant amount of Chi compared to the other people.

His heart beat like drums. This is the first time he fights an army. Alone above that.

-x-X-x-

The captain arrived. He found some obstacles in the vast land, and they were forced to walk on the known road. But somehow, there was a wall, very thick, that cornered his men.

He felt something was weird, and he had to turn. "Hand me the map."

The soldiers started making lines of 7 behind him. The path was tight that they had to change their formation.

The vice reached his pocket and handed the map. "I feel you, captain. This path should be wider than this."

He turned his head and stared at the wall, and he put his hand on it. "Could it possibly be?"

The vice could understand what his captain meant. Both of them served at the same time and at the same units. They had the same experience, and what they are facing was an old strategy used by earthbenders.

The vice turned and yelled. "Everyone! Be on Guard!"

The tanks, which were in front, stopped moving.

The captain squatted and opened his hands, creating a huge flame ball above his palms. "Some are planning to ambush us, look above the mountain."

"Yeah, you are good."

The captain turned his head in the direction of the voice.

Above the wall, and at the end of their road, there was a young man sitting and eating an apple.

He was staring at them with cold green eyes. His long brown hair was floating with the winds.

The captain looked left and right, and he asked. "Where are they?"

"I'm here alone, to take care of you."

The captain paused. One young man was sitting on the wall, and he was claiming that he was here to take care of them.

As much as it sounded funny to him, he didn't really believe its the case.

It could be a trap for them to move forward.

There may be a hole below the young man. If they moved forward, they would fall for a trap, and then, the other benders will show up and ambush them.

The captain turned his head in his soldiers' direction and yelled! "Stop laughing. He is a mere pawn. You, take him down."

He pointed to the tank, which stepped forward to the young man.

The young man jumped off the wall, and faced the tank, not seeming to be afraid. "You think I need a trap to defeat you. Fools, I just made it tight, because I am going to take you out, line by line."

A fire charged in front of the tank, ready to head at the young man, who aimed his hand at it.

"Spears Rush."

The metal started shifting its shape, creating around 10 spears, each 3 meters long.

-x-X-x-

The trap behind him was his last resort when he pretends to escape.

Haru just used spear rush, creating a group of ten spears, all made of metal. This skill was an active skill, very fast and strong.

The firebender who was inside of the tank looked left and right as his vehicle was split in half, parts of it forming spears.

The spears floating, Haru noticed how the fire benders reacted.

It was petty if he had to admit.

They were shocked at the fact that he is a metalbender.

Moreover, the ones behind the first line couldn't shoot fire at Haru.

The spears moved at them at a blinding speed.

The first line blasted fire at them.

Usually, fire can apply a force that pushes the earth back. If the fire was strong enough and the rocks were weak, the fire would explode the earth.

But in this case, metal was unstoppable. It pierced the first and the second line, taking 14 firebenders in one go. The lines behind them pushed backwards, barely dodging.

Haru kicked upward. A boulder was separate from the mountain and floated above the firebenders.

<<Swords Rain>>

The boulder turned into a group of swords. The blades were aimed down, and they were around 20 swords. Some firebenders tried to walk back, some took stances to aim fire blasts at the swords.

Haru swung his hand down, and the Swords Rain fell on them. Even though they had armours, they couldn't block the compressed swords. They didn't manage to dodge.

From more than 120 soldiers, 90 something remained. Haru quickly waved his hand when he sensed what the men in the back lines did as they aimed arrows at him from the sky.

He spun and raised his hand. Some rock decompressed, forming a bag of dust that flew about Haru, creating a shield that wrapped the arrows. Once Haru closed his fists, the dust compressed and crushed the arrows.

He bent down and kicked up, making three large boulders raised in the sky.

<<Swords Rain>>

<<Swords Rain>>

<<Swords Rain>>

Many swords started forming. Around 60 swords. The soldiers tried to move back. Usually, they would have a chance to dodge, since it was easy to predict that swords would just fall down. But, because they were gathered on this narrow path, they didn't have a chance to do so.

Such thing Haru had learnt in his previous life. In 300 movie. Having a large army cornered would make their numerical advantage useless.

The swords started falling. Some firebenders were strong enough to blast them with some combined attacks. But these swords were compressed, heavy, and way more solid than they should be.

Many died once the swords pierced them. Some were just lucky or dodged. If Haru had to count the ones who are still up, thanks to his senses, they were around 60.

Haru took a few heavy breaths for a second. Controlling all of these swords and forming them took a great amount of Chi. It should be around 2000 Chi Points. The other benders seemed to get the wrong idea when they saw Haru breathing like that.

The captain, who had been the only one to dodge, yelled. "Attack! He is tired!"

Some agile fire benders started running on the wall and on the mountain, making their way to Haru. They aimed their fire and shot at Haru. Before the fire could reach him, the earth under them shifted its shape and threw them flying in the air, their bodies hitting against each other. The fireballs missed Haru.

The other benders charged their fire. Haru squatted, making a large wall appear in front of him. He then closed his fist and the wall became shrunk to be 2 meters tall.

*Boom*

The wall could withstand the combined blast from seven fire benders. Haru jumped in the air and roundhouse kicked, sending the wall flying forward. It clashed against a tank, which stopped the wall.

The tank got out of the wall, the firebender inside it ready to make his move. But then, Haru aimed his hand at it, closed it, and used Compress. The tank changed its shape, and the firebender inside it died.

Haru then bent it, turning it into ten large spears.

The spears shot forward, and Haru slammed with his palm, giving the spears an extra momentum.

[Ding, Spears Rush up to level 11]

The metal spears were unstoppable. Two lines of the firebender got pierced. They didn't even have the chance to dodge.

Almost half of the army was dead by now.

The remaining looked to be dead. They seemed to lose hope.

Taking advantage of the fact they were dazed, Haru run forward a couple of steps, jumped, and slammed on the ground with both of his fists.

A shockwave transcended through the earth, lifting the ground. The firebenders tried to move backwards, but they didn't have a chance. The shortwave made them fall on their back.

Haru realised that he didn't need the trap that was behind him. He can do this, alone.

The firebenders were staring at the sky. If they were on open land, they would have a higher chance to burn Haru.

Haru aimed with his fists at the mountain above them. He then opened his hands.

<<Decompress>>

The rocks turned into small parts, growing bigger, becoming dust-like. It fell on the benders, who tried to stop it with their fire blasts. But the dust was unstoppable. The amount was large, and it covered half of the living soldiers.

Haru closed his fists again, and he screamed!

A large amount of energy was taken from his Chi Sea.

<<Compress>>

As the covered in dust benders were trying to dig their way out, the earth became solid and shrunk on them.

Now, only a quarter remained.

*Boom*

The wall on the left exploded, and a hole appeared on it. That quarter escaped from that hole, into a vaster land.

Haru jumped to the left when a bunch of fireballs started falling at him from the sky. A board appeared beneath his leg, made from earth, and floated him above the wall.

Haru landed on his feet, and he stared forward, to the benders.

"Guess we can complete this now." He stomped, and a large wall appeared in front of him, seven meters long.
