Rescuing The Kids! (Part One)

(Back at the Police Station)

Jack went to look into where the van had headed, but it was untraceable. From the only camera that they had passed by after leaving John's house, they had avoided every traffic signal and every camera that existed in the city.

Jack had just one important piece of information that the others didn't, and that was his involvement in the project that they had developed a while back. He had an idea of the situation that he might have been put in, considering the organization that was hell-bent on creating these bombs.

From what he heard from his wife, he had a deduction of his personality. He was a kind man, and he did not want any involvement in creating a disaster of that scale. The next thing that his mind went to was another statement that the wife had made when she was talking about John.

"Mrs. Wachowski, I want to know where Miranda, Daniel, and Samantha are. I believe that they might be in danger too", he warned her. The tone in his voice changed from inquisitiveness to authority, and the woman complied immediately.

"Miranda is having her first day at University. Daniel and Samantha must be at school now. As there is quite a lot of time for school to finish. And I think Miranda should be in a speech at the moment. But, I want to know why you think my husband would be in danger?", she asked.

He got up from his chair immediately and nodded his head at Steven. He threw the car keys towards him, and he took a seat next to her.

"Tell me the names of the University and the school names. I will bring them here to keep them safe", he urged her. The woman began to sob again.

"My kids! What is going to happen to my kids? First, my beloved husband gets taken away, and now my kids. What is going on?", she asked. This time, she demanded to know the answers.

Jack shook his head sideways, wondering what she might know, and how much she would know. From what he had read, he knew that the three of them went into hiding, and two of them were murdered.

"Was it to pressure him into giving them something? Since they destroyed all the evidence that should remain, the only evidence that is left is themselves. And, if they had decided to not indulge the information that they wanted, they would have killed them."

"But since only one of them remains now, they can't kill him that easily. They need something from him, and thus they would do anything to attain it. The Sin Claire seems to be an organization hell-bent on creating chaos in the world."

He didn't know the reason why they were hell-bent on creating destruction, and he had yet to determine the meaning of the word that was their name. He was sure that there should be a reason behind the name, and he wanted to find that out.

"But first things first, I have to find the kids. And keep them safe. That is the only way I can further my investigation", he concluded as he got into the car, and pulled out his phone to pick up the shortest route to the university.

"The oldest should always be the first. They're the only ones who can calm down the younglings."

He turned on the siren and headed down the road, and reached the place where he was supposed to. The campus was empty, and some banners were hanging around saying 'Fresher's Day'.

He looked around and expected a bunch of kids to be walking around the campus, who he could ask for directions towards the auditorium where the meeting might be held. He was sure about it, as he too was once, a freshman.

Just as he was wondering if all hope was lost, a young woman was seen walking around the corridor. He approached the lady and quickly asked her his question.

"May I know where the fresher's meeting is happening?", he asked as he looked at her. The woman looked at him and thought he was a new student who was late, and she found him a little cute too.

"Are you sure you want to be listening to that boring old lecture that the old man is giving about discipline and stuff? I am sure as hell bored, and that was why I walked out of there", she said in a cheeky voice, thinking she would attract him.

"I am sorry, but I have someone I have to find. They are in grave danger. More than they would realize. It is my duty as a cop", he said as he pulled out his badge. The woman was embarrassed beyond words, and she looked at the man that stood in front of her.

"I am not sure if that place would be helpful, but I would suggest you try the radio room on the second floor. They have the right to telecast anything that they deem urgent", she replied hastily and ran away from the place.

Jack quickly took to the stairs and ran up t the second floor, and found the room that the young woman had mentioned. He barged in and showed his badge. Demanding authority over the microphone.

"Ehem. I am Detective Jack Brown, and I am here looking for a student named Miranda Wachowski. I heard today was her first day. Would you be kind enough to head to the radio room this moment?", he announced and left the room.

He was sitting in front of the mixer, and the students in the room were slightly frightened by his intimidating aura. And in came the woman who had guided him towards the radio room in the first place.

"So, you're Miranda Wachowski? Let's go. Your mother is waiting for you, at the police station", he said and got up from the chair.

"WHAT? WHY IS MY MOTHER THERE? ON WHAT BASIS AND CHARGES HAVE YOU ARRESTED HER!", she asked in a loud voice. Jack snapped and turned towards her instantly.

"YOU. ARE TO SHUT UP. AND FOLLOW ME. AND NO, THERE ARE NO CHARGES. THIS IS A DIFFERENT MATTER!", he snapped back at her.

She instantly moved closer to him and whispered in her ear.

"Is this about Project Starfall?", she asked softly.

Jack turned his head toward her in shock. He didn't know that she would know about it.
