A Mistake

"I'm not doing this with you mother, I'm not the cause of your problems."

Layla's mother chuckled as she took another swig of her vodka not bothering that she was already getting tipsy.

"You!" She pointed her forefinger at Layla.

"You are the cause of everything!"

"You just have to find a reason to blame me, don't you? Layla is always the cause of everything that goes wrong in your life. Everything bad is connected to Layla. I'm sure you even think I'm the cause of global warming."

A peal of humourless laughter escaped her mother's throat. "Of course you are. Do you know how much space you occupy? You take up space meant for three people. That's enough to cause global warming." Her mother started to cough as she laughed.

"You are big enough to warm up the earth and cause global warming."

"I'm a size 12! Stop body shaming me!" Layla screamed, throwing her hands in the air, clearly frustrated.

Her mother scoffed.
