Ch.68 Occlumency training.

Inside the wondrous breifcase of Jonathan there are many fascinating things that you can find. A lab for his projects and experiments with potions and other magical objects. A library filled with books from the very library of Salazar Slytherin. But for now the most interesting thing that was going on was inside his room.

"You ready?" Daphne asked with a slight tremble in her voice maybe it was from nervousness, maybe it was from excitement or perhaps it's a bit of both.

"Yeah… just be gentle." Jonathan asked her friend, he wasn't sure about all this. This was his first time after all.

"I promise." Daphne reassured the frightened young lad and proceeded to penetrate.

(Yesterday Jon's Pov)

Another week has passed and Ted and I have made much progress. We have done a closed loop network successfully. But we need to test the limits of it. How far it can telecast and if there is a drop in quality or not. But still we have decided to take it a little bit easy so that we don't get burnout.

Seeing that I have took up another project that I should have done soon. Occlumency, it's very important to know this skill to project your own mind against another wizard. 

I was sitting in the library by myself, Ted just wanted to rest after working so hard. Tori and Daphne were coming to study they told me to go ahead and it's been like an hour and they haven't showed up yet. As for Tracey… Im not that close with her to know what she is up to.

As I was reading the book trying to understand its contents I was being stared at by an annoyed fuzzy haired brunette. "Can you just please say what you want… so that we can just go back to studying?"

She threw me a cold glare and exhaled sharply and I just sighed and put my book aside and asked, "Can you just please talk to me… I can't take any more of this passive aggressiveness."

She exhaled sharply and said, "You never apologised."

I was puzzled and it showed on my face and I asked, "What?"

She looked serious and said, "You never apologised to me for what you did…" I was still trying to understand and she slapped the table and said, "You lied to me!"

I then realised that I mostly just apologised to others and not her… to be honest it would be suicidal to tell her all that I told them. "Look I'm sorry… I kinda forgot."

She softly chuckled and got up and I said, "Come on, I said… I was sorry. You should have come sooner if it was bothering you this much." She stopped to look at me and said, "So I should beg you for you to apologise to me?"

I sighed and said, "That's not what I said… and don't act like that I'm not one of your second tier friend."

She looked at me all confused and put her books down and asked, "What?"

I looked at her and just couldn't help but chuckle, "Oh, please… you only come to me, when you need help from me. Mhh… you know what scratch that. You can only come to me when you get the approval from those two dingus. I bet that if I told them that I knew something they wouldn't think twice before throwing me under the bus… so yeah I'm sorry that I didn't trust you with it."

Her eyes pooled and she said with a broken smile, "Wow, I guess you don't… huh."

She left quickly with tears in her eyes and I just stood there thinking what I did. I shouldn't have done it. Tori and Daphne saw Hermione leaving with tears in her eyes and they both asked, "What happened?"

I sighed and sat down, "I don't know… I was talking to her and then… blahhh. I just said, whatever thought popped up in my head. I don't know what the hell happened."

They both sat down and I looked at them and said, "This never happens… I mean sure I say stupid stuff time to time. But they are intentional. This was just not it."

Daphne looked at Tori and said, "Maybe you should go and talk to Hermione."

Tori and I looked at her and Tori asked, "Right now?" Daphne scrunched her eyebrows and nodded and she sighed and said, "Fine…" She got up and said, "Guess, I'll see you at Dinner."

Tori left and it was just Daphne and I sitting there and for a moment it was very silent until she saw the book on the table and picked it up. "You want me to teach you?"

I looked at her and said, "I don't think it's such a good idea for you to be snoop around in my head."

She looked at me and said, "Fine, but you aren't going to learn it from the books like everything… Occlumency requires Legilimency."

I looked at her and contemplated the idea. After a good five minutes of staring at her, she sighed and said, "Fine, forget it."

I stopped her and said, "Ah, okay… I'll let you teach me. But you have to promise me, not to probe… just get me good enough so that I don't lash out like I did with Hermione."

She smiled and said, "Great."

I smiled and asked, "When do we start?"

She shrugged and said, "How about now?"

(Jon's Room)

"So you understand the basics right?" Daphne asked Jon as they both sat on his bed.

"Yeah, so I have to envelop my mind and just try and stay calm, right?" Jon asked Daphne as she looked around the room.

She turned her head towards him and said, "Yeah… so we should start now."

Jon sighed and prayed that he survives this, "Okay."

She took a deep breath and took hold of her wand and said, "Form the veil, ease your mind… focus on a singular thing."

I took a deep breath and looked straight into her eyes and boy her eyes were green but I could see specks of brown here and there and then suddenly I felt a presence in my body. It was like someone was looking through me and she asked, "Can you feel me?"

I nodded and she smiled, "Good." She stopped and the feeling was now gone. She looked at me and said, "This was the first step… to feel someone in your mind and you did good. Now we are going to focus on the defence of it. Now make your veil and make it strong, the better you are at controlling your emotions the better you will be."

I sighed and nodded and she said, "Don't worry I won't snoop."

I nodded and imagined a veil around my mind and she entered my mind. I could feel her eyes, and they stared at me and I tried to keep the veil together, but the eyes widened and the gaze that they threw at me blew holes in the veil.

She saw the memories of the today and I started to sing in my mind and she stopped looking. She looked at me and I asked, "So, how much did you see?"

She shrugged her shoulders and said, "Nothing in particular, I was just trying to feel what you feel."

"Oh" I nodded "Again?" She nodded we trained for a few more eyes and she tore the veil every time, but each time was a little more difficult than before. Every time she blew holes in my veil, she would stop immediately, trying not to see anything and I appreciated it.

She looked at me and said, "Okay, now one last time and I'm going to make it difficult."

I gulped down and nodded, "Bring it on, lanky."

She smiled and said, "Im going to eat you alive. Close your eyes."

I looked at her in confusion but she was adamant and I did as she asked, "We did defense for a few rounds, now we are going to test how long can you keep it up."

I smiled and said, "Well, that's going to be easy."

She chuckled and said, "We'll see about that."

She started like the first time and I could feel her presence pushing on the veil, she knew my limits so she just nudged on it ever so slightly. And I was keeping it together that was until. I felt her hand on my shoulders and I asked, "W-wa" She shushed me and said, "Keep it together, all part of the process."

I highly doubted that, but it was not the time to panic. It was time to show my discipline and resolve. I held that veil and she tried to break me. She traced her fingers on my chest and my face but I didn't panic and held on and I was sure that I was going to win. But then, She chuckled softly and said, "Now for the finishing blow." She kissed me on the cheek and there it was the veil and my eyes just burst open and she laughed and said, "Told you, I'd win…"

She got up from the bed and said, "Come, we have to go get some dinner."

I nodded and followed her out.

(A tid bit from the girls room the same night.)

All three of them were in bed trying to sleep and Daphne said, "I went to his room and kissed him."

Tori turned around and screamed into the pillow and Daphne laughed while Tracey was worried about them both. What if Ted is right? I think I might need to shut it down.
