My father narrows his eyes on me. As far as I know, the deal with the Mexican Cartel—the Perez's—isn't consignment based. It's always been a pay-upfront kind of deal and they only send a supply when my father requests it. I may have not known much about my father's drug business since we stayed out of each other's way, but I at least know that much. Unless they made a different deal that I don't know about?

Among my father's decisions, the upfront payment has got to be the least dumb thing he had done—okay, it's smart not to owe those people. I'm not going to lie, the Morellis' drug trade was once a flourishing business until the chemist died. Out of desperation, Marino resorted to outsourcing his supply instead of finding another chemist to cover the demands. It was supposed to be just until they'd find a replacement, but my father had gone lax, relying on his partnership with the cartel instead.
