His immediate instinct was to open the box, just in case he got lucky again and pulled another annal of war key. But he was instantly dissuaded from that idea by a knock on the door to the room, followed by the door sliding open.

"Gus, you awake?" Jessica asked from the doorway, choosing not to enter the room.

"Yeah, I'm up," Gus responded as he pushed himself up onto his elbows.
