Execution

Shaun reached the cloister just when Adam walked from between the trees. The man running behind him stumbled suddenly and fell over, a crimson spike jutting from his back. It spurred Shaun to run even more desperately in the direction of the gate while screaming for help.

Adam stopped right in front of the line of the trees and gazed upon his prey. The air of superiority he had flaunted before vanished without a trace. Shaun looked filthy, his clothes dirtied by the forest soil, and snot and dribble covering his teary face.

His eyes lingered on the wretched figure before him for a second and then looked higher, noticing people gathered by the windows. They observed the scene with curiosity and fear. They did only that, though. No one moved to help Shaun, and even his comrades stayed put.

"Good," Adam thought as he took command of his last victim's blood. "Let this be a warning and a lesson to everyone."
