After being unconscious, Jeremy wakes up alone in his room. As soon as he realized he was holding his chest, the lingering feeling still haunted his mind. What a painful and pitiful voice he heard last time, who was it.
Jeremy stared at the ceiling, wondering if that was the pain his mate was feeling. No, Jeremy had already rejected her, so Shireen wasn't his mate now. But at that time, it was very painful. Even Jeremy was unconscious, so how could someone who felt her pain survive.
"You're awake, mom brought soup for you..." A voice rang out and broke his daydream.
Jeremy turned to see a waiter with his mother, Selena took the soup plate from the waiter's hand and took a seat at Jeremy's bedside.
"Leave us," Selena said to the maid who bowed respectfully and left the two of them.
Jeremy could see, his mother's eyes were red and swollen like someone had been crying. But her face was cold and firm as if there was something his mother was trying to hide from eyes that couldn't lie.
"What made mom cry?"
"This soup is warm, eat quickly." Selena didn't answer her son's question, she just shoved the soup spoon she was blowing at Jeremy.
Jeremy swallowed it and immediately asked back "Mom!"
"Finish your soup first, you'll know after this."
Jeremy obeyed his mother, eating in silence the only sound was the movement of spoons and plates colliding. When finished, Selena gave her son some water and Jeremy didn't let his mother go.
"Explain who made mom cry?"
"You can still ask about it?"
Jeremy furrowed his brows uncomprehendingly. "Of course, who dares to make the mother of an alpha cry. I'll let him know where and—"
"Today Shireen's execution will be carried out but the elder thought it should be postponed since you fell unconscious and are only conscious now." Selena cut her son off, not letting him finish speaking. "Does it hurt so much?"
"Yeah, I feel like I almost died."
"And what is it that you want?" Selena asked making Jeremy look at his mother with another question.
But when he saw the tears of his mother's from two rubies, Jeremy seemed to be aware of his mother's question which had another meaning.
"Of course, I don't want that..."
"Yes. Unfortunately… you've already done that, do you regret it?"
Jeremy didn't answer, he just held his chest which had an uncomfortable feeling.
"She cried that night, wailing and cursing with tears… you must remember the last cry you laughed the last time. The wound turned to blood, tears filled with pain in front of everyone who thought she was a joke on someone else's lie." Selena explained to her son, that Jeremy just kept quiet.
Selena didn't let Jeremy answer, she continued.
"But even someone who is expected, letting the elders pass the punishment as they please is like judging. Her last hope just vanished. She must have been desperate to the point of wanting to die, you know that feeling without needing I'm to explain in more detail." Selena finally got up from her chair and turned around because everything she wanted to talk about had been said. "Please, think again… when the regret comes. You know, it's all over."
"What I have ordered, cannot be easily withdrawn. It's all happened."
Selena stopped her steps without turning to her son, she even let the tears roll down her cheeks again.
"Yeah, please save Shireen then. This is your mother's request because it feels... this heart is restless as if waiting for a painful loss if you let everything go according to your plan."
.....
That afternoon, heard a few long sentences from his mother. The stubborn Jeremy realized that it was only his mother's compassion for Shireen, the man would never take back what he had said. As an alpha, his speech is very influential and reflects him who leads a large group of wolves.
Even now Jeremy had to think about who would be his accomplice. There is no Beta to choose from yet, while his best friend who will be appointed has yet to give news of his return to quell the rogue attack on the cold southern tip.
As he stepped into the jail, a soldier guarding the entrance to the jail steps bowed.
"Why is it so cold in here?" Jeremy asked the soldier accompanying him.
"Because the temperature below ground is very low, the sun's rays don't reach here. There is only one window and we provide light using only this torch."
Jeremy arrived in front of the grate shrouded in defensive magic, inside which was a woman looking up at the window the soldier had spoken of. her clothes are shabby, her hair is not properly styled.
The afternoon sun came in through the mid-sized window towards Shireen's face, Jeremy was stunned to see this condition.
"Leave us." Said Jeremy to the Soldier.
The soldier went and left Jeremy looking at Shireen in the prison, the woman ignored his presence. Jeremy looked down to see the plates and drinks that were finished, he looked at the barn door which seemed to be often held by someone.
Because there is a trace of a thick smell there.
"Someone dared to open the prison door..."
And when Jeremy raised his gaze forward again, his gaze met two red eyes. He was surprised because the beautiful ruby in his eyes disappeared. Just like her mother said before.
'The wound turned to blood, tears filled with pain in front of all those who thought she was a joke to someone else's lies.'
"Shireen..." Jeremy mumbled calling his mate.
But Jeremy's call was ignored, Shireen just stared at him but her eyes seemed to be nowhere in his line of sight.
"Luis, when are you going to take me away?"
DEG.
Jeremy clutched his chest feeling, angry. But for what, he frowned.
'Besides, why did he mention my brother's name?'
"It's cold, I can't see anything the way I want to. This might be better, but I miss the outside world." Shireen said to Jeremy who she assumed was Luis.
Shireen turned her gaze again to the fading afternoon light from the gap in the window, Jeremy saw the woman's smile bloom.
"Time has turned into the night it seems, I don't feel sunlight on my nerves and your voice sounds different, are you right Luis?" Shireen asked in a probing tone when he noticed the strangeness of the figure who was thought to be Luis.
Jeremy noticed Shireen's empty red eyes, don't tell me.
"You're blind..."
