Skane

Skane, Skagos, The North first moon of 279 ( 2 moons before the last chapter)

Davos ( "POV")

Davos Seasworth was a simple man, born in flea bottom to a young couple that could barely feed themselves. His childhood was harsh but otherwise "common." His teenage years could be divided into before he met Ragnar Dovahkiin and after he met Ragnar Dovahkiin. Before he met the man, he was a smuggler. As shameful as it was to admit, he NEEDED to be if he wanted to provide for his wife and newborn son; then came Lord Dovahkiin, a lord from a remote Island in the depths of the North; Lord Dovahkiin only had a dream and some revolutionary ideas, or so he thought at the time, and he could get behind that, and so he did, he took his wife and newborn son and went north with Ragnar Dovahkiin. The latter would soon become a legend himself, besting the best knights of the realm, raising his land and House to new heights, and taming fucking dragons, apparently. In his years following Ragnar, Davos saw many things; he saw a small settlement on a once unexplored piece of land become the fourth biggest city in Westeros, as well as the cleanest and prettiest; he saw miracles being made by the Old Gods, he saw a once sad but hopeful people grow, with the welcomed help of outsiders and become a proud, United and happy people under one banner, under one lord, Davos saw his Lord standing tall and proud as a Dragon bowed to him, and claimed to be loyal as it had always been. Davos saw magic come back to the world, bloodless and "sacrificeless," as mundane as a sword… Davos saw many things indeed, and he helped his lord with all his heart, with all he had, and gave all he could give, and he was rewarded for it; Lord Dovahkiin gave him land and elevated his status to a Masterly House, akin to Landed Knights down the neck. Davos was a simple man, a happy man, and above all loyal man.

As he looked forward on his ship, Davos could see an Island a few miles away, the shores of said land were frozen, and its trees were numerous and high; Davos was finally looking at Skane, his land.

" Be ready to dock and explore the Island, Davos; we will stay here for two days. The ghost of the past must be vanquished. I will work on that as you scout the Island and begin to plan on how to work your land." Ragnar Dovahkiin said with his thunder-like voice; his face was unusually blank, unusually pained, as he could feel ghosts from the past and the pain they felt when the skagosson came and committed genocide on their people.

" Aye, m'lord. I was thinking about making a port town, to be the middle man of all business between the wildlings and the rest of The North." Davos said calmly, his face in a frown as he thought about the future of his new-formed House.

"That could be a good idea, Lord Seasworth, Master of Skane, the Wild Trader… that sounds good…." Lord Dovahkiin said he would've laughed if not for the gloomy ambiance around them, and Davos could do nothing except look a little sheepish.

" M'lord, if you don't mind me asking, why did you decide to come here now? I thought you would like to spend time with your Lady Wife." Davos asked; he had been wondering that ever since they left Skagos, about one day.

" Midstinul is done with his mission; he gathered all giants from beyond the wall and brought them to Hardhome, where we will pick them and their mammoths up and take them back to Skagos with us… He even got a few Children on that group… 12 of them to be precise." Lord Dovahkiin answered quietly.

Davos had a hard time taking that information in but nodded all the same until something his Lord said claimed his attention

" Children as in giant's children?" Davos asked and Ragnar shook his head

" No, I wasn't talking about little giants, although there are some of them, if I'm not mistaken. I was talking about the Children of the Forrest… little magical beings of renowned wisdom." Lord Dovahkiin said, and Davos nodded dumbly.

Davos, like all who lived in Skagos, converted to the Old Gods after witnessing their miracles

" By the gods," Davos mumbled quietly.

( A few hours later)

Ragnar POV

As they arrived in Skane, Ragnar and his sailors felt uncomfortable; those of pure Skagossi heritage outright passed out, something Ragnar took note of; the curse in these lands was strong; Ragnar had only seen something like this once, in Labyrinthian, and Morokei caused that. This was something different; it was the scars and ghosts of genocide. Ragnar would have to clean this land, or Davos and his family would suffer just like those who Lorded over Harrenhal did, and that he wouldn't allow, so as soon as he could, Ragnar began to work on it. He picked four stones and began writing runes on them clear, turn and repel undead runes, sun fire runes, and bane of undead runes. It took him nearly 5 hours to do so, but it would soon be worth it.

" Listen Up, everyone, I will be strong this Rune Stones on the four corners of this Island, it will take me a day to set everything up, and while I'm out doing this, I want you to scout the Forrest of this Island. DO NOT GET CLOSE TO ANY RUINS! And always work on groups bigger than four! Understood?" Ragnar said, his voice loud and clear.

"Aye, m'lord"

"Aye"

"Yes, M'lord," they said

" Good, just as long as we're all in agreement," Ragnar replied, and as if on cue, a reverberating thunder sounded on the clouds.

" Now… To those born in Skagos, it would be better for you all to return to the ships… you are not welcome here, the gods forgave you, but Skane's ghosts haven't," Ragnar suggested, and those he meant to warn nodded.

Ragnar did just what he said he would do; he mentally called the Ice Dragon, mounted it, and flew around the Island, setting one stone in each of the four corners of the Island; as soon as he finished doing so, he began to power up the stones, and after a few hours they were ready to be used. Once Ragnar got back to the camp he and his soldiers had set up earlier to see how things were going on their end, it was already nighttime

"M'lord," two soldiers saluted him as he walked inside the camp area; he nodded back at them and proceeded to find Davos and the other captains, who were seated around a big campfire while talking to each other

" My captains, Master Davos," Ragnar greeted them; they all stood up and saluted him back; Ragnar waved them off and told them to sit

" What did you find out? Any water body or animal heard long lost?" Ragnar said as he grabbed a bowl and poured himself some soup there were eating

" We found a lake about 10 miles east of here." One captain said

" We found a whole section of this woods made out of Ironwood, about 7 miles west of here; it's a fairly big area, m'lord," said another captain

Ragnar nodded but said nothing; he kept eating until Davos said

" We found a cave north of here… I found this there." Davos said as he gave Ragnar a small purple crystal, which made Ragnar's eyes widen as if he was seeing a long-lost brother of something similar

" That's a soul gem… but it's not liked to soul-cairn… it's linked to planetos, and It's linked to nothing at the same time… this… this." Ragnar said quickly as he analyzed the gem; this would open a new set of opportunities for his lands, primarily as each soul-gem would act similarly to Asura Star; it would not break after the soul was used for enchantment, but it would not hold more than one soul, and as the Ideal Masters would not be here to claim the soul-gem it would just be hollow again instead of destroying itself.

" Davos… you just found a way to create magic swords… more like magical weapons really," Ragnar said, and Davos could do nothing but nod as his Lord looked at the little gem with wonder in his eyes.

Ragnar then stood up and said

" Now that I have eaten… behold the first REAL exorcism in history…probably."

Ragnar then activated the stones and a golden-like dome appeared around Skane, burning all the undead, ghosts, and alike, it was beautiful to see but painful to hear as the ghosts screamed and shouted as they were destroyed.

" May the Old gods receive your souls," Davos said lowly as some tears left his eyes; some children-like ghosts were among those being purged, and that probably hurt the man more than he let on

One the next day, Ragnar left for Hardhome, where he fought 12 giants at the same time and won all the giant's allegiance. He told the giants to board the ships and follow him back to Skagos. The few Children of the Forrest who were with the giants also chose to follow Ragnar under some really strict rules, such as protection against men, the right to carve all the Wairwoods in Skagos and some other places, among other things, which Ragnar quickly accepted.
