Zusammenfassung

What is worse than being the worst team in the world? For Dave Richards that was a very easy but heartbreaking question to answer, a goalkeeper who performed poorly between the sticks, he was still available as a first-choice goalkeeper because Unique FC didn't have any other goalkeeper. He was slow on his feet, couldn't jump properly and worst of all, he didn't know how to hold the ball properly. The only way that Unique FC was able to survive taking in a massive goal-fest sometimes was because of the extra effort they put in their defence. After a terrible match in which Dave wasn't able to make any saves and also made a lot of mistakes, he was seriously scolded by the managerial staff and almost received a beating from his angry teammates. He got home sad and also angry at all those who told him he looked like his grandfather and would therefore inherit his goalkeeping skills. He discovered a hidden door below his room and when he got down there the only thing he could see was a black box. He found the box to be quite familiar and when he opened it the last thing he saw was a bright white light when the light was gone he could see something in his field of vision. [ Welcome Dave ] [ You have activated the Goalkeeping system ] A female voice read out the messages. This is a story about how an ordinary man who didn't know his place between the sticks went from nothing to pro and beyond that.

Chapter 1One Of Those Nights

There was a mix of cheers and claps as Unique football club marched into the pitch but in the mix of those cheers and claps were booes all directed at one person.

"What is he still doing in the squad? Isn't it clear that he's the one that has been selling all those matches!" One of the enraged fans shouted to make sure everyone heard him.

"Give him a break honey, he's trying his best it's not like we are going to get relegated." The blonde-haired female who happened to be his wife said.

Unique FC was sitting in the 10th position with twenty-five matches already played and today they were going to face league leaders Supreme United.

This was a very important match for Unique FC because winning would take them to 9th place and give them more chances to fight for a place in one of the European tournaments next season.

Both teams lined up in accordance and after that, the two captains went to the referee for the coin toss which would indicate which goal area they would be attacking.

After the coin toss, Unique FC moved to the left side of the pitch while Supreme United moved to the right side.

The match was being played in the home of Unique FC and that was one of the reasons why they needed to win it, but most of their fans didn't quite believe they would be able to achieve their goal because of one person, the goalkeeper.

Dave walked to his goal post trying to keep his morale high because the booes he was receiving from the fans were already demoralizing him.

Unique FC players were putting on a green jersey with orange and black designs running down the jersey in the form of incomplete stripes while Supreme United players putting on a plain red jersey with Supreme embedded in the chest of the jersey, they were being sponsored by an organization named supreme.

Unique FC on the other hand were being sponsored by an organization called Webnovel and they had their logo and name on their jersey.

The number one with the name Dave above the one could be seen as Dave walked to his goal post and turned to face the opposition goalpost.

"Don't let what they are doing get to you, Dave." His teammate with long hair said as he touched him on his shoulder. "Just try your best."

He had the captain badge which indicated that he was the captain.

"Ok," Dave said and took a very deep breath.

The captain nodded and turned to face the opposition, revealing his back which displayed the number three on it with Adolf written above the number.

Unique FC were the ones to start the game with the kick-off and immediately after the whistle was blown by the referee they did just that, putting the game in progress.

There was a spell of possession from Unique FC as they passed the ball around in their own half, the Supreme United players were trying hard to dispossess the Unique FC players off the ball but they were doing a great job in keeping possession after all their neat passes and long possession spells was something that made them threats even to big teams.

A pass was played through to Norman Kole the Unique FC right back and without waiting for the ball to stop he played a through cross to their talisman on the left-wing, Mateo Smith.

Mateo caught the ball and with nice footwork got past Supreme United's right back and played a very nice cross into the box.

"Mateo tries to get through and as always he gets through." The commentator said.

Unique FC's center-back George Neville was there to meet the ball with a great leap above the Supreme United players, he placed the ball to the bottom left but he was met with disappointment as Supreme United's goalkeeper made a great dive towards the ball and caught it.

"That was a nice cross and header but Carl was equal to it." The commentator commented.

The goalkeeper quickly got up on his feet and kicked the ball ahead to the supreme United player in the center while Unique FC's wing backs were still in their own half.

Immediately the player got the ball he ran past Adolf the only center back close to him and now he was heading for goal with no opposition except for Adolf who was hot on his trail.

"Roland is on the right track to score his twentieth league goal but Adolf seems to be hot on his trail."

Dave was confused about what to do as Roland approached his post, it was certain that if he stayed there, Roland was going to score the goal so he decided to do something for the first time in his life.

"What's this? Dave is taking the role of a sweeper keeper."

Before Roland could enter the eighteen-yard box Dave was already upon him with a slide, this caused Roland to release the ball with a lob, Dave managed to get a hand to it but it was still flying towards the net and was going to enter.

"The ball is flying towards the net now but wait."

Adolf who had been behind Roland the whole time raced towards the ball and just before it could fly into the net from above he placed his head in the way and nodded it over the bar.

"Wow! What a magnificent save from the super captain Adolf Alexia."

Roland covered his mouth with his hand as he couldn't believe what just happened, Dave's hand had slowed down the ball and that had given Adolf enough time to get to it.

All the defenders were hugging Adolf as they knew what that save meant to them but now they were going to try and keep out the air masters of Supreme United because the ball had gone out for a corner.

"Mark every one of them," Adolf said as he got in position on the last bar.

The referee blew the whistle and the ball came flying from the right corner, one of Supreme United's players jumped high to catch the ball and nodded it high on the right side of the post but Adolf was there to nod it away.

"Another save from the super captain." The commentator said.

Applause and loud cheers were coming from the fans but that wasn't the end as the ball fell to the feet of Roland just outside the box.

He feigned shooting as a defender came running towards him and with a spin, he went past the defender, he dribbled past another player, and then sent the ball to the bottom left of the post.

"That's a goalllllll!!!! Wonderful football from Roland Hills he's got that twentieth goal now!"

Supreme United Fans were jumping up and down as Roland raced to the corner and did a slide as his teammates came running after him.

Dave, who had been glued to the middle of the post when the ball came flying, fell to the floor now with his hands covering his face.

"Oh, it's one of those nights for Dave Richards again." The commentator said.

"I know Dave may be a bad goalie but that shot was unstoppable, Roland is unstoppable." Another voice said.

Indeed it was one of those terrible nights for Dave and Unique FC as a whole, this was only the beginning.

Godfather Of Champions

This is a story about the pursuit of victory. — "I subscribe only to the theory of victory. I only pursue victory. As long as I am able to obtain victory, I don’t care if it’s total football or counterattack. What is the ultimate goal of professional soccer? In my opinion, it is victory, and the pinnacle of victory is to become the champions. I am a manager. If I don’t wish to lose my job or be forgotten by the people, there’s only one path for me to take, and that is to lead the team in obtaining victories, in obtaining championship titles!” The main character was not well-liked by people. — “⋯We conducted a survey which had been deemed by Manager Tony Twain as extremely meaningless. In a random street survey conducted, ninety-three percent of those surveyed chose the option ‘I hate Tony Twain’, while only seven percent chose the option ‘This person is rather decent, I like him’. It is worth noting that nobody chose the option ‘Who is Tony Twain? I don’t know him’. Mark, do you know why Manager Twain felt that our survey was very meaningless?” Parker, a reporter from <The Daily Telegraph> laughed loudly and said when he was being interviewed by BBC. But there were also people who were madly in love with him. — “⋯ Became the spokesperson of world-wide famous clothing brands, shot advertisements, frequented the fashion industry’s award ceremonies, endorsed electronic games, has a supermodel girlfriend. His earnings from advertisements exceed his club salary by seventeen times, owns a special column in various print medias, publishing his autobiography (in progress), and is even said that he is planning to shoot an inspirational film based off his own person experiences! Who can tell me which part of his life experiences is worthy of being called ‘inspirational’? Hold on⋯. Are you all thinking that I’m referring to David Beckham? You’re sorely mistaken! I’m talking about Manager Tony Twain⋯.” He was very knowledgeable about Chinese soccer. — “⋯ I’ve heard about it, that Bora gifted four books to his manager Mr. Zhu before your country’s national team’s warm up match. After which, the team lost 1:3 to a nameless American team from Major League Soccer. The new excuse that Mr. Zhu gave for losing the match, was that Bora gifted “books” (‘books’ and ‘lose’ are homophones in the Chinese language). Here, I recommend that you guys find out what that one specific book is. Which book? Of course the one that caused you all to score a goal. After that, tell me the title of the book. Before every match, I will gift ten copies of that same book to you. In that case, won’t you all be able to get a triumphant 10:0 win over your opponents every time?” An excerpt taken from Tony Twain’s special column in a certain famous Chinese sports newspaper.
