why

"Ok, I will follow you," Max said indifferently.

The rest of the cultivators were once again given another round of shock.

'What the hell?'

'were these two messing with them?'

'How come their actions are always out of expectations?'

The lady just looked up at Max's face, since he was taller than her, she had to look up to read his expression. Seeing that Max still had a serious and indifferent expression on his face, she chose to believe his words and finally let her heart settle.

"Let go of me" Max's voice rang again, he did not sound disgusted or irritated though, his voice was void of emotions, making it difficult to know what his reaction towards this action of hers was.

"Umm" the lady nodded her head and turned back, she wanted to jump back but realized that her flying treasure was no longer where she left it.

The flying treasure was currently hovering some distance above them, because of the different occurrences within the short period, no one had noticed it moving upwards.

She looked back at Max, only to meet his cold gaze staring at her with no emotions. He didn't even react when her twin peaks pressed against his chest, but she didn't know that Max was using all his willpower to not react at all.

Just in time before things became more awkward, one of the cultivators belonging to the lady's group drifted towards them on her flying treasure, she was also a beauty with long red hair and a curvy body just like the other lady.

But she was only at the second soul-transforming stage.

"I am very sorry for my friend's disrespectful act, please show your mercy, senior, I am sure it wasn't intentional" the second stage woman apologized while helping her friend to climb onto her flying treasure.

Max didn't take any of her actions as offense either because he believed that she acted out of desperation to acquire the eternal flaming pill, thus he only gave her a small nod and didn't say anything else.

After getting the lady on her flying treasure, they all headed north, where the thousand yang sect was located.

The group flew in front while Max followed behind them, not saying a word as they all traveled in silence.

After flying for over six good hours, they were finally out of the okomure river and were now flying above a forest, sounds of beasts could be heard coming from the forest and they flew past their territories.

Since they were just at the fourth stage and below, the group was soon drained of spirit energy after so many hours of non-stop flying, of course, only max that was not out of energy yet since he had a larger energy reserve than those of the fourth stage and below.

They proposed to rest in a part of the forest where the population of the beast was low so they could recover and rest before continuing their journey.

Max didn't argue with their decision, although he didn't need to rest, they needed to, unless they might become too exhausted and even faint on their way.

They soon found a suitable space with trees surrounding them, the shadows of the trees provided nice shade that protected them from the sun.

While the rest were busy recovering their strength, Max walked up to the lady who had forced him to follow them. She was sitting all by herself under one of the trees.

Max had seen her asking the others not to disturb her and was surprised as the rest obeyed her even though they were a stage above her.

Sensing that someone was approaching her, the lady said while still closing her eyes" Come on, did I not just tell you guys not to bother me? I'm really exhausted right now, so please just go away"

Max just stared at her indifferently and still sat down next to her, not caring about what she said in the slightest, the woman noticed that the person still refused to leave and was sitting next to her.

She frowned and opened her eyes in annoyance only to meet his burning gaze roaming around her face, those black eyes, the handsome face, ahh!

She realized it was the senior she had managed to drag along with them and instantly went on her knees to apologize.

"Senior, please forgive this lowly one, I didn't realize it was you" she said, while her face was red from embarrassment and.... shyness?

Max did not put much significance to her words as he knew that she really was exhausted, his mental whip was no simple technique, and although he had neutralized the attack, it's after effect of making the target experience weakness and exhaustion could only be endured as he couldn't remove it.

"It's fine, I'm the reason you are like this anyways" Max said logically, freeing her of her worries.

The lady breathed in relief, it seemed she was right after all, he wasn't a bad person as the rest thought, he was just cold but still caring.

Max would probably roll his eyes if he knew what the sexy lady beside him was thinking.

"What's your name?" He asked while staring at the sky

The lady was taken aback as Max suddenly asked for her name, stupid thoughts started flooding her little head.

'Did he finally notice my charm?'

'Is he now interested in me?'

'Did he discover that I have feelings for him?'

Many similar thoughts galloped through her mind at the same time, her face turned red as imaginary smoke started rising from her ears.

Max was confused as to why she suddenly turned as red as a cooked lobster, why was she always blushing?

"You don't have a name?" Max asked, thinking maybe she forgot her name and was red from embarrassment.

Bah!! Who does that??

"A-am Sasha" Max's questions knocked her fantasies out of her head and yanked her back to reality.

"Why are you so desperate to get this pill for your sect master, is he your husband?"Max asked again.

The woman blushed again and lowered her head" No, he is my grandfather" she said softly.

Max did an 'ohh' expression and didn't ask anything again, just staring into the clouds.

"Which sect are you from?" Sasha's sweet voice lingered into his ears from the side.

"I don't belong to any sect" Max replied, still staring at the clouds.

"Oh, ok, so do you have a family?" Sasha asked another question, her eyes burning with curiosity like she wanted to know everything about him.

"Nope, I am an orphan" Max was cooperative and gave her the answers to her questions as he thought they weren't really important.

"Sorry about that"

"It's fine"

"Are you married?"

Max finally glanced at her through the corner of his eyes, he only glanced at her briefly before turning his gaze away from her, others would be terrified by that single look but Sasha wasn't.

"No," he replied shortly.

Sasha felt her heart ease at his answer, she felt glad that he was still single, she had a chance, after all, which woman wouldn't want a handsome and strong husband who can protect her in difficult times?

"Will you marry me?" She blurted out her thoughts but it was too late since the words were already out.

"No" Max replied in a heartbeat

Sasha felt hurt by how fast he rejected her.

"Why?" She still did not want to give up, even though she said that unintentionally, she wouldn't give up now that he already knew her intentions.

"I... don't know"
