Louisa kept quiet, gently sobbing.
"Answer me, will you?"
"No," Louisa said softly.
"No," Rochester repeated. "Yet you want me to believe you did with all the lies because you liked me and not at all for my money."
"Of-- of course, I did at first, want your money and liked your looks..."
Rochester scoffed, "Right."
"But I came to like you not just for the money," she said in broken tenses while attempting to reach him.
But Rochester moved too quickly, getting out of her way.
Louisa's hands fell with a slap to her sides. "Why do you think I did all of that then?" she yelled in desperation once she saw him walking away.
Rochester stopped walking.
