Crash And Burn (Sam)

(Sam)

“Drop it,” I command, adjusting the gun to press against Nix’s skull. With a dramatic sigh, she obeys, kicking the knife across the room. “Good girl.”

“Don’t patronise me,” She scolds, glaring back at me with stormy grey eyes.

“It’s not patronising when you like it. Don’t forget, I know you, Nix,” I provoke, meeting her gaze with a taunting smirk.

“You don’t know shit,” She dismisses, shoving a sharp black fingernail into my chest. I grab her wrist with my free hand, my grip bruising, allowing her to see a little of the monster inside of me. Pausing as two steps of footsteps begin charging up the staircase toward us. A second later, two Devil’s Riders thugs appear on the landing, guns drawn.

Unsurprisingly I didn’t recognise either of them. Both were young, barely eighteen to my reckoning, defiantly inexperienced, judging by the lack of badges lining their cut and the way the shorter one was sweating as he raised his gun. Rookies, really? Really?!?
