Chapter 12- Departure

Sachiko spent two weeks hanging out with Yumi and when she wasn't around Yumi, she spent her time d on working on her cursed techniques and cursed energy. But, she felt like she couldn't really get a deeper understanding unless she found a missing piece to fill that puzzle, which was really bizarre.

One day before Yumi left for Kyoto, Sachiko had a sleepover at Yumi's house.

"Sachiko chan, you're here!!!" Yumi opened the door for her and apparently, she was too excited.

"Yepp! Everything's ready and packed up?" Sachiko asked as she headed directly to Yumi's room.

"Yeah..I think so.." Yumi nodded as she pointed to two huge luggages and a few boxes on the floor.

"Damn..you're actually moving." Sachiko muttered as she sat down on the bed.

"Yeah, I still feel like this is a dream..it just feels so..surreal?"

"Yeah..so anything you wanna do before leaving? I mean we're going to have THE BEST SLEEPOVER so we can do everything we want!" Sachiko said to Yumi.

"Well, I guess I want to go for a picnic with you and then we can watch movies until late at night and have lots of snacks?" Yumi said after thinking for a while.

"Sounds good! Let's go make some food to go picnic then!" Sachiko jumped up from bed and led Yumi into their kitchen. Yuki wasn't in the house so Sachiko had no problem accessing the kitchen.

"Wait, Sachiko chan, aren't you like banned from the kitchen after almost setting the whole house on ofire?" Yumi frowned.

"Well, that was four years ago and your mom is not here." Sachiko defended herself.

"Okay but please don't set the kitchen on fire." Yumi said reluctantly.

"Alright." Sachiko casually said as she went through the fridge and cabinets. "Do you want some pasta and grilled salmon?"

"For picnic?"

"No, to eat now. And then we can make some sandwiches and buy a cute cake from a bakery for picnic." Sachiko said as she put an empty pot onto the stove and turned it on.

"Okay, but..Sachiko chan, you're supposed to put water into the pot.." Yumi reminded her as the empty pot heated up on the stove and the burning smell came out a bit.

"Ohh..okay." Sachiko nodded and grabbed a mug of water from the sink. She then poured it into the pot. "Like this?"

"Yeah..but you need to put more water, to like 2/3 of the pot." Yumi said and started pouring water into the pot.

"Ohh...that's why I was always burning my pasta!"

Yumi froze in her steps and looked at Sachiko chan in horror. "Sachiko chan, you never put water in your pot when you cook pasta?"

"Uhh...no? Maybe that's why they just ...caught on fire?" Sachiko laughed sheepishly.

"Aunt Misaki never taught you?"

"I mean..she did at one point? But then I almost burned the whole house down so she just told me not to cook anymore...and that with my geniusness, not being able to cook was totally okay!!" Sachiko said proudly.

"....right.." Yumi didn't really know what else to say at that point so she decided to work on the pasta. "How about I finish cooking the pasta and you go buy some snacks and cake for our picnic?"

"Are you kicking me out of kitchen too? That's not nice, Yumi!!"

"Umm..."

"I thought you love me! I didn't think you're gonna betray me like this!!!" Sachiko whined dramatically.

"Okay, okay, I'm not kicking you out! We..can cook together. How does that sound?" Yumi finally said after Sachiko's dramatic acting.

"I knew you'd let me cook! You're the best!!" Sachiko gave Yumi a big thumbs up before excitedly putting salmon into a pan and putting it onto the stove.

"Umm..Sachiko chan, what are you doing?"

"Grilling salmon."

"That's..not how you grill salmon...here...let me show you, okay?"

After a few could-have-been-disasters-without-Yumi's-interference, they finished making pasta and grilled salmon. And, it was actually edible!

Not tasty but edible.

Yumi was just glad that the kitchen wasn't burned down at least and that was all she needed to be able to finish the pasta.

Then, they headed to the bakery to buy some sandwiches and cake for the picnic. After that, Sachiko took Yumi to a spot near the cemetery because it was a quite and peaceful spot for her.

"Sachiko chan, isn't...this..near the cemetery?"

"Yeah, it's quiet and peaceful!" Sachiko said with a nod.

"We're not going to cemetery for picnic..."

"Eh..why not?"

"It's a cemetery.."

"And?"

"That's not a picnic spot."

"Okay but we don't have any other picnic spots in this town..except maybe the park.."

"I mean we can just go to the park?" Yumi suggested.

"But that's boring.."

"...please?" Yumi tugged at Sachiko's hands and Sachiko sighed.

"Fine, we can go to the park, I guess."

They went to the park and had a normal picnic with the food they brought. While Sachiko didn't like the park that much, she enjoyed the picnic either way because she got to spend some time with Yumi before she left.

After the picnic, they went back home and watch movies until midnight and Yumi was the first to fall asleep. Sachiko had to fight the urge to draw on Yumi's face so that Yumi wouldn't cry in the morning.

Soon, morning came and Sachiko helped Yumi carry her bags to the station.

"Sachiko chan, I'll call you, okay? Don't forget about me." Yumi said before she got onto the train.

"Okay, take care, Yumi. I will come visit you in Kyoto." Sachiko pulled Yumi into a hug.

"Okay, I will be waiting." Yumi smiled and hugged Sachiko back.

"Good luck, Yumi. Try not to die from university stress." Sachiko joked.

"Okay, smart-ass." Yumi said with a laugh before waving her hands. She then got onto the train and soon the train started departing from the station.

Sachiko looked at the train and muttered, 'Idiot Yumi is actually gone to Kyoto..'

And, Sachiko knew things probably wouldn't be the same anymore when they met each other again.

A few days later, Sachiko told her mother that she was leaving the town as well and that she wanted to transfer to a high school in Sendai.

Misaki was shocked at first but she agreed on her decision in the end because she always thought that their small town was too small for her genius daughter and she knew Sachiko would leave the town sooner or later.

So, after a few weeks of paperwork and farewell parties, Sachiko left her small town.

A/N:

I know this must be a bit fast-paced but I didn't really want to draw it out for too long.

On the bright side, we get to see canon characters soon! Finally after 12 chapters 😂
