Breathing heavily, Lane watched the headmaster with wild eyes. He had just heard the truth about Addie, but he was denying it as fact. He would do anything to save himself and making us doubt the truth was the only tactic that he had.

"NO! NO! NO! NO!" He screamed the word again and again. "SHE IS NOT EVEN A WOLF! SHE IS NOT A CELESTIAL BEING! SHE IS NOT ALL POWERFUL! SHE IS A WORTHLESS HUMAN! OTHERS IN THE LOWER CITY KNEW IT A LONG TIME AGO, AND SEVERAL OF THE NOBLES KNOW IT NOW! YOU CAN'T LIE TO ME! YOU CAN'T MAKE ME BELIEVE SOMETHING THAT IS NOT TRUE!"

"I pity you, Lane." Callum said as he stepped closer to him. I saw that he was pulling something from his pouch as he did so. "You can't see the truth that has presented itself to you again and again."

"Think about it, Lane. You saw what Addie did in the tunnel yesterday. Do you truly doubt her abilities and status after seeing that? After knowing that she destroyed your guardian monster?"
