40- Revealing the truth about Kuro

The next day at 3 a.m.

Kaya could not sleep and kept thinking about what Ethan had said to her earlier. Kaya got up from the bed and got out of her room and went to the kitchen to drink some water, and on her way there she saw the butler Merry cleaning the chandelier in the hall, then Klahdore entered the palace.

At this moment, out of instinct and because of what Ethan had said, Kaya decided to hide and watch what was happening.

"Welcome back, Klahdore-san," Merry said with a smile when he saw Kuro entering the palace.

"Where is Ojou-sama?" Kuro asked as he walked down the hall, then stood in front of the window and looked outside, no expression on his face.

"She is sleeping, she seems excited and happy because she has guests, after all there has been no one to visit her for nearly a year." Merry said happily while carefully wiping the chandeliers.

Kuro adjusted his glasses and then noticed that there was a small gift box on the table, Kuro picked it up and then asked curiously, "Whose is it?"

"This is a gift from Ojou-sama to you, it has been three years since you came to this mansion, it is a anniversary gift." Merry smiled as he recalled Kaya's happiness when she brought this gift back, "She thought your glasses looked old. So, Ojou-sama made these glasses especially for you, what a kind and affectionate person."

Tears started to fall from Merry's eyes from happiness and he wiped with a handkerchief. He is also proud to serve a kind person like Kaya.

Kuro opened the gift and looked at the glasses and a sly smile appeared on his face as he said, "Speaking of anniversary, today will be a day that will never be forgotten."

Merry finished cleaning the chandeliers so he came down the stairs, when he heard Kuro's words he didn't understand what they meant.

Kuro looked through the window at the clear crescent in the sky, "It's the crescent today, isn't it? A night like this makes me look so excited."

After he finished his words, he dropped Kaya's gift on the ground and then stepped on it with his foot and broke it.

Kaya in hiding was shocked when Kuro broke her gift, Merry looked at Kuro and said in astonishment, "Klahdore-san, why did you do this to Ojou-sama's gift?"

"I accepted the gift, but not something as trivial as this, I will accept everything in this palace as a gift." Kuro turned around and looked at Merry with a broad smile and then walked towards him, causing Merry to take a few steps back in fear while saying, "What...what are you saying?"

"I don't need to continue acting anymore, in a few hours an unexpected event will happen." Kuro opened the bag he was carrying and took out a glove with five blades attached to it, then put it on.

"Ojou-sama, run quickly" Merry tried to shout at the top of his voice to make Kaya who is currently sleeping in the room hear his voice, but Kuro moved quickly and cut Merry's chest with the five blades.

After killing Merry, he started walking towards Kaya's room, he opened the door and entered, then approached her bed and looked at Kaya's face and noticed that she was still sleeping, after making sure she was asleep, he came out of the palace.

Kaya looked at Kuro's back, tears welling up in her eyes, and her heart was filled with sadness, not expecting to be betrayed by him.

"Ojou-sama, what is Klahdore planning and why is he doing this?" Merry said sadly, before he thought Kuro was his friend but his thinking seemed to be far from the truth.

Yes, Merry is still alive and he has not been injured. Exactly when Kuro started acting strange, Kaya put him in an illusion and then dragged Merry aside, Merry was surprised when this happened, he didn't think that Kaya had an ability like this.

One day, she wished with all her heart that her parents would be alive and beside her, and because of that, she entered herself in an illusion, and then her parents appeared in front of her, and she felt very happy. She told everyone in the palace that her parents were alive to the point that everyone in the palace thought she was hallucinating out of sadness or going crazy.

When she heard that not everyone can see her parents She thought that these are the spirits of her parents and only she could see them, and she continued to believe that for a long time but one day she discovered that they are not really her parents but an illusion and that this is the ability of her Devil Fruit.

"I know someone who might know who Klahdore really is." After Kaya said this she wiped her tears and then quickly walked towards the room where Ethan slept.

Moments later, Kaya and Merry arrived in front of Ethan's room, then Kaya knocked on the door, but no response came from inside so Kaya knocked again.

Moments later, Ethan opened the door and looked at Kaya and Merry and then told them to come in. After they entered, Ethan said, "Can you tell me why you came to me?"

Luckily, Ethan expected Kaya to come to him tonight, so he told the girls that he wouldn't spend the night with them, or it would be embarrassing if Kaya and Merry saw them.
