Chapter 94

“You’re dead, sweetheart.” Lacey stood before her, a bloody piece of metal, sharpened into a blade, still in her hand. “I been waiting a long time for this.”

Cam staggered back against the wall. Strength was already beginning to drain from her.

“This is where you say good-bye, amiga.” Lacey took a step closer and Cam knew she had to act fast before Lacey slit her throat.

She lashed out with her foot and connected with Lacey’s wrist. The blade flew up, bounced off the wall and landed just behind Lacey. Cam dove for it, and with it in her hand, rolled over just as Lacey pounced on her. The force of Lacey’s body weight knocked the breath from her.

Their eyes locked for just a minute. One pair showing surprise, the other fear. Then Lacey’s eyes dilated into a wide stare.

Cam pulled herself out from under the limp body and Lacey rolled back, the blade stuck firmly through her heart.

Just like that, in a brief instant, it was over.
