Danny walked towards his mother, who seemed surprisingly unruffled by the scene they’d just witnessed. Intending to demand she explain what the hell was going on, he stopped when he saw Carl Reynolds move in front of her to face the returning FBI agent.
Neatly blocking the agent’s advance, Carl smiled pleasantly and said, “My client, Mrs. Carmody, will be happy to cooperate in any way that is needed. However, she knows nothing of the activities of Colin Dwyer or his family. His presence here today was only to attend the wedding. Any further questions will need to be forwarded to me, and I will relay her answers to you.” The lawyer offered the agent his business card.
Ignoring the card, the agent growled, “This isn’t over. I want her down at our offices for interrogation. She’s not going to slither out from under this.”
