Chapter 38

"It is true, isn't it?" asked Tywin while glancing at his children.

"Cersei admitted they weren't Roberts when we were in the gardens waiting for him to return from his hunt that ultimately killed him," added Ned while Cersei glared at him and Jamie sighed in defeat.

"It is true. I am their Father. All three of them are my children," admitted Jamie at last to the gasps of shock from behind him.

"You admit that Joffrey, Tommen, and Myrcella are your children? You are the Father?" asked Aegon with Cersei looking betrayed while Tywin looked furious.

"I am your Grace. As I just stated, all three children are mine," replied Jamie with Tywin now looking ready to strangle him.

"Why?" asked Aegon with Jamie sighing.

"At first, I didn't want to do such a thing with Cersei. I love my sister, but it wasn't to that strange level she has for me. Over time, I saw Robert fucking whores and wenches every chance he could get during the course of his marriage to my sister. Sometimes I would be standing guard right outside his room when he did it. I would be standing there while he was shaming my sister every chance possible with his infidelity and humiliating me by guarding his door while hearing him fucking all of these women behind it. Eventually, I couldn't take it anymore. Neither could my sister. So she initiated our...private activities so we could have our own revenge against Robert for his own unfaithfulness to her. Even more so when she heard rumors of women having children with Baratheon features and concluded they were Robert's bastards. Cersei soon decided she wanted to hurt Robert anyway she could for what he was doing during their marriage. She believed the best way to do it was to have my children while passing them off as his own. That when the time came and Robert died, it would not be a Stag that sat on Iron Throne, but a pure blooded lion of House Lannister," replied Jamie while many of the people behind him glaring and whispering about his actions.

"So for all her talk of us being incest bred bastards and other women being whores, in truth Cersei Lannister here is essentially the Queen of said incest bastards and whores," commented Daenerys with a smirk on her face while Cersei glared at her.

"I do believe you are correct Aunt," remarked Aegon while Cersei looked furious.

"But that is not her worst crime. No. Cersei's worst crime is conspiring to kill the Usurper with the help of her cousin Lancel Lannister. While he was a poor excuse for a King, it is through his blood connection to my House that Robert was considered one, and died with the title attached to his name. As such, you, Cersei Lannister, are charged with conspiring to commit murder against a member of the Crown. A crime punishable by death," replied Aegon with Cersei looking like she wanted to shoot fire from her mouth and eyes.

"You have no proof of such a thing. Nothing! I demand a trial!" exclaimed Cersei with Aegon frowning.

"Denied! I have plenty of proof and motivation behind your attempt to do it. Lord Varys, if you will gladly explain what your little birds discovered," replied Aegon with Varys nodding.

"My little birds whispered to me a secret conversation between one Lancel Lannister, the King's Squire, and at the time, Queen Cersei, prior to Robert Baratheon's desire to go on a boar hunt. The same boar hunt that cost the man his life. In this secret conversation, the Queen had commanded Lancel to not water down the King's wine, and to make sure the man drank from it every chance possible when on the hunt. Cersei knew the animals in the Kingswoods were vicious territorial creatures and it would only take one of them to possibly kill Robert," said Varys with Aegon glancing at the shaking and nervous Lancel Lannister.

"I was there your Grace. Guarding Robert during his time hunting. Lancel gave him the wine every chance he could until the wine skin was practically empty. When Lancel had it prior to the hunt, it was swelling to the point where I thought the pouch would burst," added Ser Barristan while Aegon's eyes seemed to bore holes into the Lancel.

"What say you Lancel? Will you confess to your part in this conspiracy in exchange for mercy?" asked Aegon while Cersei glared at Lancel in order for him to keep his mouth shut.

Too bad for her, the man standing in front of them was more intimidating.

"I-I confess to it. Cersei approached me when I was getting the wine. She was angry and wanted Robert gone. She said he should be given fortified wine despite the practice of the King's Squire to provided it watered down when the King goes out anywhere to ensure he is not overly drunk," said Lancel while Cersei tried to leap out at him in order to strangle the man for selling her out.

Fortunately, the Unsullied were there to keep the woman in place.

"Did you object to it?" asked Aegon with Lancel nodding.

"At first, I did object. I told her that would put the King in danger. That if we succeeded, it would make us Kingslayers like cousin Jamie. But she didn't care. She said when her son became King, we would be pardoned in secret for the act after speaking with Joffrey on the issue. She said being loyal to House Lannister was the only thing that mattered and if I did as she commanded, I would be rewarded in...other ways," replied Lancel while he looked down in shame.

"And by rewarded in other ways, you mean...sexually rewarded. Correct?" asked Aegon with Lancel nodding much to the shock, horror, and disgust of those around him.

"Yes. With cousin Jamie gone to fight in the Riverlands, Cersei said she needed someone in her bed to keep her urges at bay. That if I did as she commanded, it would benefit my position in the process because she could influence Joffrey to provide additional rewards of my choosing when he was King," explained Lancel while glancing back at his Father, who was clearly furious and disgusted by all of this.

"And you agreed to do what was asked once Cersei assured you her plan would work?" asked Aegon with Lancel nodding.

"Yes your Grace," replied Lancel humbly.

"In light of your testimony here and the fact you didn't agree right away, I am inclined to show you mercy young Lannister. So instead of taking your head like I will your cousin Cersei for this crime, I am sending you to the Wall to join the Night's Watch," said Aegon with Lancel nodding in agreement.

"I will gladly take the Black your Grace," said Lancel while his Father sighed heavily for various reasons.

"Wise choice. Remove him from the rest of the group," commanded Aegon with two of the Unsullied picking up the Lannister and moving him away.

"I suppose I'm next," commented Jamie with Aegon nodding.

"You are next Ser Jamie. But first, there is something that should be addressed in regards to my Grandfather. Namely why you killed him and broke your oath as a member of the Kingsguard," replied Aegon with Jamie stiffening slightly at the mention of his past deed.

"Nephew, is this really the time?" asked Daenerys with Aegon turning to look at her.

"There is no better time. The people here need to know the truth. So here is your chance Ser Jamie Lannister. Your chance to tell everyone here why you killed my Grandfather? Why in the back? Why did you do what you did that day?" stated Aegon while the room became deathly quiet while Jamie sighing and closing his eyes before opening them.

"I was assigned to guard the Mad King when my Father came with his army at the city gates asking to be let in. Rheagar had fallen at the Trident. Robert Baratheon was leading his army toward King's Landing to take the Iron Throne. But I knew my Father. I knew how he thinks when it comes to opportunities and how to claim them when the moment is just right. I told King Aerys not to let my Father's army into the city. I knew what he was going to do. I wanted to stop it. Prevent it. Even Lord Varys told the King not to let my Father into the city. Unfortunately, the only person the Mad King listened to at the worst possible time was Grand Maester Pycelle. He told the King that my Father was a friend and could be trusted. How he was a friend of the Crown. Out of all the people the King could have listened to that day, it had to be that old fucking cunt. No sooner was the gate opened and the Lannister army marched into King's Landing, the sacking of it began. The city was on fire, people being killed, raped, and property destroyed all over the place. The King ordered me to go out into the populace, to find my Father, and bring back his head," said Ser Jamie while taking a long breath in order to collect his thoughts.

"Why?" asked Aegon.

"To prove my loyalty to the Crown. To prove that if I had to choose between my Father or the King in terms of loyalty, it would be to the King. After he gave me the order, King Aerys turned to the pyromancer from the Alchemist Guild. Rossart was his name. He had been made Hand of the King following my Father leaving the position. As to why, it was due to Wild Fire. Apparently, the King had secretly ordered thousands upon thousands of caches of it to be stored under King's Landing. He ordered Rossart to ignite the caches of Wild Fire in the belief that being consumed by the flames would turn him into an actual dragon while everyone else around him died. 'Burn them! Burn them all!' he said. Over and over again. Rossart was moving to carry out the deed. I killed him first. Followed by some of the other guards. By that point, the Mad King had finally stood up from the Iron Throne and tried to run away. Whether to ignite the Wild Fire himself or simply to flee, I do not know. Nor did I wish to give him a chance to try the former. So I stabbed him in the back as he fled and cut his throat to ensure no one heard the final order. And while he died, the man had this sick smile on his face, blood gurgling from his mouth. Even as the King died on the floor, he still tried to speak. Still trying to give the command to 'burn them all!' before his life ended," explained Jamie while sighing at finally telling his story to everyone.

"So you didn't do it for your Father, but rather for the people in this city?" asked Aegon while Jamie nodded.

"Why would I do it for my Father? My Father, who destroyed two Houses and all those of their bloodline. My Father, who sacked a city when he didn't have to do it in such a way. My Father, who allowed Elia Martell and her children to die horrible deaths at the hands of the Mountain and Pig Monster. All to show his 'proof of fealty' to the new King of the Seven Kingdoms. No. My Father wasn't in any danger. He had army with him. I did it for the people in the city. The people who would survive the sacking. If I had gone to do what the King commanded, Rossart would have set the city on fire, and everyone within King's Landing would have burned no matter who they were," explained Jamie with everyone becoming shocked by this information since everyone assumed the man killed the Mad King for his Father.
