Sucks for Clark but judging from Irina's offer alone, he clearly had no chance to overturn the girl's view of him. That's what Aldrin observed.

Clark could never be Irina's significant other.

Perhaps he was put into the friendzone or the girl had just predicted that it would be troublesome for her if she ever accepted him. Just considering how the guy was already acting that annoying even if they're not in a relationship yet, it's surely an endless headache for her.

Either of the two possibilities, Aldrin didn't care too much. He was clearly more tempted because of the money offered.
