Lucifer was exiled from the sky castle of the supreme god and won't be able to properly use his divine powers until he lets go of his desire and reflects on his actions.

Getting kicked out of the sky castle was not the only punishment for giving in to his desire. Lucifer would be unable to touch the object or person he desired, and he would be unable to properly use his divine powers. Lucifer ended up becoming weak after just liking Ndulou and desiring to serve him, which turned him into this mess. The feathers that he could use as his other source of power are also now used as Lucifer treated the people he unintentionally hurt because of his landing.

He is basically in a vulnerable state right now, and the hand of a stranger offering him help is something that makes Lucifer feel glorified--a salvation he suddenly received from a human called "Maurine."
