Chapter 122: Haruhime Situation

(Morax: POV)

Sitting at the breakfast table I ate with the others. Despite the night I had last night drinking with Alise.

Including Kaguya, who is glowing.

I guess sucking Rogue dry really did wonders for her.

Anyway.

I turned my gaze to our newest familia member, Haruhime.

Who is sitting next to Millhiore.

She's really taking a liking to her.

Then again Millhiore just has that approachable aura about her. Even Ryuu got friendly with her shortly after she joined us.

Which isn't common for my reserved fairy elf.

As breakfast continued I noticed Haruhime glancing at Kaguya and vice versa.

Which makes sense, since both of them are from the Far East.

Finally after everyone finished eating Haruhime spoke up to address the matter.

"Um, pretty lady are you from the same place as me?" She asked Kaguya.

"Oh, so you are from the Far East as I suspected." Kaguya replied. "And are you a member of the Sanjou clan?"

Haruhime nodded her head.

"Again, as I thought. You look like a member of the clan I saw when I was in my homeland. But tell me, why are you here and now apart of the Athena familia?" She asked.

That's when Haruhime clung to Millhiore and slowly told us her story.

How a Pallum framed her for eating an offering and how her father believe him over his own daughter. Who then sold Haruhime to said Pallum. Which then ran away and left her to die at the hands of the bandits we encountered on our way back from Melen.

But instead of killing Haruhime they planned to sell her off upon reaching Orario.

By the time the little fox girl was finished she had tears in her eyes.

While everyone else has looks of shock and utter disgust on their faces.

Except for Kaguya.

She is smiling. But even though she is she there is no light on her eyes.

Haruhime continued to cry.

"Millhiore, please take Haruhime to her room?" I asked.

Millhiore nodded and then left the table, escorting Haruhime.

As she did so Gaul walked into the room. A blanket wrapped around his body, with a hollow look in his eyes.

"Good morning." He softly said.

He then grabbed some food and headed back to his room.

Leonmitchelli informed me of his situation with Luinore this morning in my office.

Normally I wouldn't meddle in the personal relationships of my friends like that, but I am also the familia captain so any significant change in one of the familia members mental states is something I need to know about.

And Gaul has had a significant mental change.

Which is his own fault honestly.

Since when he asked me for advice on the matter I told him to introduce Luinore and Samira as soon as possible.

Mostly for the formers sake instead of the latter's.

Since I suspected Samira would be ok with Gaul having lovers other than her.

The real issue was Luinores feelings on the matter.

Which have now blown up, and now Gaul might lose her.

Though I am hoping my friend won't.

All I can do is wait and see.

"Wow, Gaul looks even worse than he did the other day, what happened to him?" William asked.

Since only Leonmitchelli and I know fully about Gauls romantic situation.

"He made a mistake in his love life." Leonmitchelli said. "Which will resolve itself in a few days." She explained.

Once she did no one brought the matter up again.

Since Leonmitchelli basically just told everyone to leave it alone, which they are. Out of respect for Gauls privacy.

"I won't ask about the matter, but inform me if it gets worse." Athena said.

"Yes, lady Athena." Leonmitchelli said.

"We will." I added.

"Excellent, thank you." She said. Athena then put a serious look on her face. "Now then, there is something I need to tell you all about Haruhime."

Hearing this Kaguya got up to leave, only for Athena to shake her head.

"No need for you to leave Kaguya. After all, I trust you won't tell anyone but Astraea what I'm about to reveal. Besides, you already know Morax secret so I don't see the harm in adding another." She explained.

Which shows just how much Athena trusts Astraea and her familia, and vice versa.

At Athenas' words Kaguya sat back down.

When she did Athena told us all about Haruhime's level boosting magic.

Once she finished the room got so quiet you could hear a pin drop.

"Hah, just how broken are our familia members?" William questioned.

Breaking the silence.

"A magic to boost one's level. I've never heard of such a thing." Ryner said.

"I know it was always said that the Renard species possessed unique magic, but still.." Echidna trailed off.

Even she has no words.

Which I completely understand.

"Yes. I was surprised as well when I saw her status." Athena explained. "But no matter how many times I looked at it the results didn't change. Which is why I decided to inform the rest of you immediately. So that we can develop plans to keep Haruhime safe."

Because if Haruhiimes magic was ever discovered gods and goddesses would turn Orario into a sea of blood to get a hold of her.

Of that, I am certain.

"Um, wouldn't the simplest solution just to have Haruhime not ever use her magic." Ariane spoke up.

"I considered that. But that comes with its own set of problems Ariane." Athena replied. "Fron what I can see Haruhime won't ever be a frontline fighter like you or Ryuu. But rather she is more in line with a rear-guard sorcerer/supporter build. Meaning she will be using magic to mostly assist in battle. And although I've talked with Haruhime and told her not to tell anyone about her magic nor use it in public, I know one day she will make a decision to use it on her own. Also, her magic stat will be her main point of growth. It will most likely be the key to her future level ups. That's why she can't not use magic."

"I see. Understood." Ariane said.

"How about if I give Haruhime one of my grimiore so she can learn another magic?" Echidna suggested.

"That's not a viable option right now either." Athena replied. "Grimiore give a person magic based on experiences, strong emotions, etc. A lot of which Haruhime doesn't have right now. So giving her a grimiore at this stage would be more detrimental to her growth. Besides, since grimiore give people random magic we have no way of knowing if the spell Haruhime will obtain from one will be useful or not. So for now we will hold off on giving her one." She explained.

"Then how should we go about training her?" Diluc asked.

"First let's make her purely a supporter for a year or two. During that time we will teach her about magic, weapons, and martial arts. That way she can have a variety of ways to grow and defend herself without the need to rely on her magic " I said.

Everyone nodded their heads in agreement.

"Ryner, can I ask you to teach Haruhime about magic?"

"Hey, what about me?" Echidna asked.

"No way. I don't want Haruhime to turn into a mini you." I immediately replied.

One Echidna is manageable. But two would be a headache.

Haruhime is an impressionable young girl. I don't want her picking up strange habits from our resident pervert.

"Oh come on. I won't do anything perverted in front of a child. I have self-restraint." Echidna said.

"Could've fooled me." Ryuu said.

Getting a joke in.

After she did so Echidna glared at her.

"Quiet eroelf. I know you like to act all prim and proper in public, but on the inside you are just as much as a pervert as I am. The moans I sometimes hear from Morax room prove it." She said. "Then there was that aphrodisiac you asked me to get for you."

As she did so Ryuu started glaring daggers at Echidna, who glared right back.

I'm pretty certain invisible lightning sparks are flying between them right now.

So as a man I know exactly what to do.

Stay out of it.

I am crazy, but not crazy enough to get into a fight between woman.

Ignoring those two I turned to Kaguya. "Kaguya, can you help out with Haruhime training?"

"Of course. It would be my pleasure." She said.

"Thanks." I said.

Since if Haruhime should mimic anyone I would rather it be Kaguya.

Since I think of her as a real badass.
