The next morning after breakfast I began our usual Grouday check-up routine. I got some pleasant news while checking Bruce/Golbat's status sheet. He was done with his limit-breaking and was now ready for not only his breakthrough but to also evolve before he did that. A "completed" parameter sheet at the bronze stage was enough to reach his optimal evolution point since it was just a friendship/bond evolution, which made waiting until the (high) silver stage unnecessary.
Actually, while he could have fulfilled that condition as soon as he broke through due to his absurd RV/BS, doing that would mean that he would lose out on an even more impressive start since his RV/BS would naturally be even higher as a Crobat. Regardless, I shared the news with Bruce, and while he was excited, Moka/Crobat was just as excited as him if not more since her "little bro" would become stronger. Not to mention that he would become a Crobat as well.
Nonetheless, I still finished the check-up routine before anything else could happen, though no other major news popped up. Once the control session was over, I made the announcement over UtopiaFM, before leading our group to Bruce and Moka's place. Shortly after we made it there, an excited Spinda Quartet showed up as well.
They never missed the chance to watch an evolution, and I was pretty sure that if we counted the evolutions that happened to the regular Utopians, the Quartet had to have spectated over a hundred evolutions by now. The only reason I was unsure about the exact number was the fact that I did not go around making announcements when regular Utopians evolved, so most of them flew under the radar causing the Spinda Quartet to miss them unless they were lucky enough to be close by.
Anyway, while the others were trickling in, I took out the supplements I prepared for this moment and began forcing them on Bruce. I used my telekinesis to help him swallow the ones that could be ingested while I applied the ones that had to be smeared on his body.
Funnily enough Fortuna/Togetic hurried over when she saw me pulling out the supplements and wished Bruce the best of luck in advance before retreating, which had me chuckle a bit. It was almost as if she did not want to hug him after he had been coated with external supplements. *ahem* I followed suit before I began applying the stuff, but that was not important. My expectations of these supplements should be the focus instead.
As far as supplements were concerned, I was aiming/hoping for a potential increase of somewhere between 45 and 50%, though I would not call my efforts wasted as long as the bonus was above 30%. There was no way around it, Bruce already had purple potential, so the amount I could raise through evolution/supplements was limited unless I happened to hit a jackpot. Adding the fact, that I had to limit the potency of the materials/supplements used so that Bruce, or rather his body, could endure them, and we ended up with my "modest" expectations.
Regardless, once I was done putting on the stuff, Moka wished Bruce good luck as well, before we retreated and I gave him the go-ahead. Bruce then initiated his evolution causing him to erupt in a bright light, and not long after energy began being drawn to the light cocoon making it shine even brighter than before. If that was not an indicator that something extra happened I did not know what could be.
Eventually, the light began to die down, and once the cocoon vanished the evolution was over, revealing a freshly evolved Bruce/Crobat in all his glory. Since his evolution was over, I made sure to check him out while moving towards him. Bruce now stood at 2.3 meters in height, though I guess a not inconsiderable part of this 2.3 meters belonged to his ears and feet, leaving his main body somewhere between 1.5 and 1.6 meters in height.
Yes, unlike regular Crobat, who had stubby little feet/tufts where their previous legs had been, Bruce retained his legs, though they had changed a bit compared to his time as a Golbat. While the beefier shin/leg part remained the same, the foot part changed from stick to the stubby foot/tuft part Crobat usually sported.
This change allowed Bruce to actually stand instead of essentially sitting on his ass whenever he was not flying or hanging off of somewhere, which was something all other Crobat were actually doing due to their stubby little feet/tufts. Still, his legs were not the only beefier/different part.
Bruce was visibly more muscular compared to a regular Crobat, especially his wings which were beefier as well. That translated to the arm part of his wings being broader than those of other Crobat. I knew that for a fact since I had an image of regular Crobat wings along with Moka's wings for comparison.
My initial observations got interrupted when Moka swept past me and slammed into Bruce to hug him. I could only chuckle at her overeagerness before joining them and congratulating Bruce on his successful evolution. I could not help but ask him if he felt anything else aside from his new form, but Bruce shook his head curious why I asked.
Moka told him about the jump in brightness that happened during his evolution, and Bruce seemed curious about what could have caused that as well. I assured him that I would share it with him as soon as I found the cause, which the others captured as well while joining us to congratulate Bruce. I then let them do their thing and proceeded to study his new/updated status sheet.
'Name: Bruce
Species: Crobat*
Gender: Male
Age: 4+ Years'
Bruce was now a Crobat and due to the 50% (overall) bonus he got from his Deviant gene as well as his Huge Power ability, he now had an unbelievable 937 BS/RV. That was an absolutely insane amount and firmly settled him as my Pokemon with the highest racial value. Fortuna would have been capable of posing a threat to his position once she evolved to Togekiss, but that was now a nonissue.
'Type: Poison, Flying
Potential: Purple (38.88%)*
{Purple (0.47%) -> (38.88%)}
(Genetic) Modifiers: Deviant Gene
Abilities: Inner Focus, Huge Power'
Moving on I saw his updated potential, and while the increase had not reached the extent I wanted, about 38.5% was not bad and above my bottom line. The fact that Bruce had no additional modifier was no surprise since he would have had a higher BS when I checked the racial value of his new form. It was when I checked his talent section that I saw the reason for the glow-up during his evolution.
'Talents: Blood Right*
Affinities: Poison, Flying'
My first thought was that "Blood Right" was a fancy title that gave him blood control, which while simple was a pretty powerful ability. However, when I checked the talent's description, I found out that I had been wrong with my assumption.
"Blood Right" did not grant blood control, but allowed Bruce to drink blood to recover some health. Bruce like all members of the Zubat/Crobat line could suck blood for sustenance, but that did not mean that could immediately heal or recover their stamina or energy by sucking blood. Yet, "Blood Right" now allowed Bruce to do just that, or at least the health part of it.
This was a pretty good talent, even if required Bruce to suck the blood straight from the source. "Blood Right" was basically a passive Leech Life without an energy cost and the involvement of bug-type energy, though unlike Leech Life "Blood Right" did not count as an attack, so it did not cause direct damage.
Considering that Bruce had already raised Leech Life to advanced mastery, we could fully stop training that one. Instead, we would focus on Cross Poison once he mastered Air Slash.

Anyway, I shared the great news with Bruce, Moka, as well as the others, and the "bat duo" was really happy with the results of Bruce's evolution. Nonetheless, it was too soon to celebrate since he still had his breakthrough waving at him from across the fence, so I asked everyone to make room, and after we had all wished him good luck, Bruce initiated his breakthrough to the silver stage.
I could not help but be surprised when Bruce hit the double jackpot, and I was not the only one. Everyone was surprised when he actually began to shine a little during the breakthrough process indicating that something extra was happening again.
Moka once more rushed ahead of me the moment Bruce's breakthrough was over. I was not surprised by the (high) silver stage undulations he was releasing since his absurdly high RV basically guaranteed that it would happen, though I was looking forward to seeing his starting parameters with my own eyes.
Anyway, I followed behind her and observed Bruce in the meantime. I saw no outwardly changes, so whatever had caused the light, did not affect his appearance. Once I made it to the pair I congratulated Bruce on reaching the (high) silver stage, briefly interrupting Moka, who was telling him about the glow that appeared during his breakthrough.
The others joined us as well, and it was obvious that everyone was curious about the cause/result of the glow that appeared. Under everyone's urging I looked at Bruce's new/updated status sheet.
'Name: Bruce
Species: Crobat
Gender: Male
Age: 4+ Years
-
Type: Poison, Flying
Potential: Deep Purple (98.88%)*
{Purple (38.88%) -> Deep Purple (98.88%)}'
I first inspected his new potential, and even though I knew that it would be like this, I could not help but find it a pity that he had missed out on light aurora by a tiny bit. A tiny bit that would take me close to a decade to cover mind you.
Regardless, I quickly moved on and looked at the next sections to see if I could find what I was looking for. Surprisingly, the cause for the light once more happened to be in the talent section. Moreover, Bruce did not happen to unlock a second talent, but it appeared that a change/upgrade of his just recently gained talent "Blood Right" took place.
'Talents: Blood Lord's Spoils*
Affinities: Poison, Flying'
"Blood Lord's Spoils" expanded on Blood Right's ability to recover health by sucking blood straight from a living source. It allowed Bruce to recover his energy, stamina, and health/vitality by sucking blood. This was an incredible change that would allow Bruce to keep going for as long as he had blood to drink, granted that he could handle the mental exhaustion/strain.
If "Blood Right" had been a good talent, then "Blood Lord's Spoils" was a top-level talent that would make the real Batman jealous. Well, except for the blood-sucking part. I don't think Batman would like that bit all that much. Regardless, "Blood Lord's Spoils" granted Bruce an incredible lasting capacity. My boy was a legend in the making especially combined with his high racial value.
I naturally shared the news with the others and they couldn't believe Bruce's luck. Bruce himself was really excited about the upgrade, same as Moka who praised Bruce to the heavens as if he had enhanced the talent himself. Everyone was used to her Bro-con behavior by now, so we only found it amusing.
Leaving them be, I continued looking at the rest of Bruce's status sheet. I was really looking forward to his starting parameters, and they did not disappoint.
'Parameters:
Stage: Silver Stage (high)*
Vitality: B
Strength: A
Endurance: C
Agility: A
Energy Capacity: C
Energy Density: C'
This was the most incredible starting parameters sheet I had ever seen, and I doubted I would see anything better than this for a long, long time. Two parameters were already at the regular parameter limit, while one parameter had a B-value with the other three parameters solidly at the start of the (high) substage. Bruce was practically halfway to the regular limit, which was incredible.
Still, putting that aside for a moment, I resumed looking through the rest of Bruce's status sheet, but there were no further changes caused by his breakthrough, so I stopped paying attention to it and began pulling out the things for Bruce's celebration.
