Unexpected Meeting

Rai's POV

"You want me to go back?" I furrowed my brows while looking at the enormous tree.

"Yes."

"But why?" I asked.

"I want you to expose yourself and enjoy the world of humans," the world tree answered.

"Can I decline?" I said but, he didn't utter a word.

"....."

"*Sigh* Fine, I'll go." Admitting my defeat, I ring the bell to alert Callis.

"Thank you, child."

"I've been meaning to ask you this," I said while looking at her curiously.

"What is it, child?" The world tree asked.

"Do you have a name?" The world tree went silent for a moment.

"I don't have a name, since only you can hear my voice. But I'll be glad to accept it if you want to create one." the world tree answered.

"Then, is it okay if I call you Ellen?" I asked for her approval.

"....."

"It's fine if you refuse it," I said, waiting for her to approve.

"Thank you for giving me the name, Rai." She approved.

"See you later, Ellen." I said, waving her goodbye.

"Be careful, child."

It's been a year since I visited the human world, and it's always been the same. The bustling atmosphere in the town street is a sight to behold. Children roam around and play while all the adults are talking to each other.

I sense someone or something when I walk through a dark alley, so I move silently and invincibly in that direction. I came upon a person who was restrained in a chair as I continued down the dimly lit alley. He was surrounded by people who were punching and kicking him.

Rather than that, his aura is like that of a red-haired guy, but the color of his hair is also red... It must be a coincidence.

"Speak! Count Kellorne Thallan Lysanthir! Where is the scroll!" I stopped midway when I heard his full name. The count laughed coldly and drew out some blood.

"Too bad Baron Farkian, I already sent it via teleportation."

"You bastard! Do you think you can escape here alive?! Kill him!" The Count was attacked by the Baron's men, who then beat him. Sighing, I snapped my fingers, causing all of his men to fall to the ground.

"What happened?!" The count and baron were shocked.

"You are committing crimes in the middle of the day, Baron." I slowly walked in their direction.

"Who are you?!" The Baron threw a knife at me, which I just waved my hand and the knife stopped midway.

"So noisy. *snap*" The Baron fell to the ground and headed to face the Count.

"Who are you?" I felt shivers running down my spine when he looked at me coldly.

"You can say that I'm just a passerby," I said as I untied his hands and feet. After that, I gave him a healing potion.

"Here, drink this. If you're wondering what this is, it's a healing potion, so take it." He took the potion and consumed it. His body was cleared of dirt and his face became more visible.

"I have a few extra clothes here. Put them on. You don't need to worry because the clothing will fit someone wearing it." He took the clothes that I had given him. I turned around to give him some space. He looked and examined me from head to toe after changing into his new attire.

"Is there something wrong?" He shakes his head and gently lowers his upper body.

"Thank you so much for helping me." His voice sounded cold, even as he expressed thanks to me for saving him. It's wise to exercise caution when it comes to those who assist you. They may or may not have good intentions in reality.

He looked shocked when I said, "It's fine. Since you're good now, I must get going." I turned around and moved forward.

"Wait!" I stopped in my tracks when I heard his voice.

"What is it?" I asked.

"Aren't you going to ask for a reward?"

"Why would I?" I tilted my head and stared at him.

"Because you saved me?" He sounded so uncertain when he talked.

".... I don't get it, why would people ask for a reward every time they saved someone?" I said while weirdly looking at him.

"Is it because they desire money?"

"Humans are so pathetic," I grumbled under my breath.

"Did you say something?" He asked while suspiciously looking at me.

"Nothing, I said nothing." I shake my head.

"How about I treat you to a meal." He was still persistent on giving me something.

"…. That would be fine." I can't deny the fact that I'm hungry right now.

"Then, could you wait for a bit; I'll contact my men first." I can say that he doesn't like and trust me.

"Go ahead, *yawn*" The count seems to be using a communication device to interact with his men, which is wearing me out. I believe he just makes up this ridiculous excuse to avoid having dinner with me.

"How about canceling the meal? Since you look like you're busy?" I suggested making his face brighter, but not to the point that you could see it clearly.

"I can do that." It appears my hunch was correct. He doesn't want to have lunch with me because I'm just a random person who witnessed a baron beat him. Either way, I don't mind if he doesn't reward me.

"Then until we meet again, Count Kellorne Thallan Lysanthir," I said as I walked away without turning my back.

This town is a bit dull, but I just found myself at an inn. Despite the pleasant atmosphere, I get bored very quickly. Shall I search for rare herbs in the mountains? However, Ellen advised me to investigate the human race; perhaps I might discover something intriguing.

'Knock, knock.'

Hm? Who could it be? I put my cloak on and went to open the door.

'Hm?

I saw an old man wearing a suit.

"My master is waiting for you on the top floor." As he led me to the top floor, everything in this place is covered with gold, this has to be the VIP level. When he opened the back door, I was a little taken aback by the opulent things on display.

"As your order master, I brought him."

"Good work, Wither, leave us." The butler bowed his head slightly. He left and shut the door without saying a word. We were silent for a minute, then he got up and our eyes met. With an ugly smile, he spread his arms wide.

"Welcome to the Mystic Moon Inn."
