Chapter 11

             Chapter 11

        A New Life

I didn't answer him. I left him on the floor crying his eyes out. I didn't feel any pity for him. I felt angry and hurt. All what he did to me was because of jealousy! All what he did was because of his so called love for me. Chuck is selfish. Love isn't selfish!

I ran to the library in tears where Cleopatra was. All eyes where on me as a ran through the hall crying my eyes out.

When I reached in the library with tears screaming down my face Cleo rushed to me and pulled me in her arms as she rubbed my backed telling me sorry. I knew we were creating a scene but the librarian wasn't there. She went out for lunch and entrusted us with the library as many students didn't really use the library. The library was used only by other students when they had  assignments or doing test time when they  were preparing their spying papers.

I cried on Cleo's shoulder messing up her uniform. That day I really cried till my eyes were red and puff  — I couldn't see.

Cleo asked the principal for a sick excused for me. Can I ask for anyone more than her? No! She was all that I needed. She was the best friend and sister that I needed.

We went home to Cleo's house. I had some of my clothes at her house, she told me  take bath and rest in my room that I had at her house.

After I woke up she didn't ask me what happened. Cleo believed that if a person wants to heal they will reveal their pains. She didn't want to force me to reveal things that I weren't ready to reveal.

I went out of my room to eat when Cleo told me she was done cooking —for a girl who have lived alone since she twelve she knows how to cook well and take care of her house.

That day she prepared cassava leaves and rice. After we were done eating she told me that the "National periodic competition" will begin next week. It was a district against district—to county against country—city against city till the finals. I was a bit hesitant to participate in such big competition. "I did win the district competition but that doesn't mean I will be able to win a National Competition." I said to Cleopatra.

She told me no negative thoughts were accepted in her house. "I am a winner and I should never feel like a looser" she said to me as she drank her water "we become what we think— never imagine yourself as a looser or yourself in a negative situation" she said chewing on her chicken.

"Giving up should never be an option. You should never allow it to cross your mind. Every human person was made to be a fighter. We fight against bad  situations in life and embrace the good ones. Never give up! Never say Never! Never overlook yourself." She said to me as she picked up her bowl and carried it to the kitchen.

I sat down at the table thinking on what Cleo said. She was right "giving up should never be an option"— I was born to be a winner. I decided to participate in the national competition that was mine time to shine.

I knew the periodic table like the back of my hands. I know each and every element atomic number, mass number, the symbol and the categories.

After two weeks of staying at Cleo's house my family came to visit. They said they were sorry for everything that they  have done to me.

My sister apologized for being mean to me. I told them I will think about it.

I couldn't just forgive and forget the same day. That was impossible! They agreed for me to live at Cleo's. They also apologize to Cleo for what they did to her as well. They apologize for insulting her and her dead mother.

As for Chuck and his minors, I did forgive his minors but not him. During those weeks Chuck did everything he could to help us.

I told him he had a lot of work to do to cover up for the pains he had putting me through.

Everyday Cleo will help me review the periodic table. We made a song for it. We made a dance for it. We paly games with it. Cleo made an animation video of it. We created flash cards to help me review it whenever we were in the library, class or in a vehicle..

We downloaded the app on my phone and I studied with fun love and support.

It was strange to see my family at  Cleo's home almost every evening to help me study for my competition. Every time they visited they brought chocolate and all of the sweets I love.

Sometimes, mother will cook and bring some for us. It all felt like a dream.

Chuck and his minors helped in every step of the way for the competition. I was grateful to God for what he had done.

After two months!

After two months full of stress, happiness and fun it was  finally the finals.

I say stress because every week I visited different districts and counties to participate in the competition. I always came back home as winner.  I had to attend lots of interviews. People wanted my autograph on their things as if I was  a Lollywood star. I also meet a kid called Wonderful who parents gave up on him as well.

His story is for Cleopatra to tell not me.

A say happy an

d fun because the people who hurt me and healed me were there with me in every step of the way. They took me out to parks like;  "The Invisible Park" —they took me to ice-cream shops like; Sharks, Nice Ice-cream and many other places. They bought and sold tickets for me during the competition. They will tease me about my facial expression chances whenever there judges were about to make the announcement.

Life was beautiful. During the finals I came up as the winner.

I was the first. I was awarded a scholarship to complete my studies in the states.

I was awarded a university scholarship at Harvard School Of Chemist after I complete my high school studies on the states.

I know now that the best thing parents can give their children is their love and support.
