Chapter 80 - Unconscious

The ride back was very silent, with Fan Xui wallowing in his own embarrassment and Qian gloating that he has a blackmail material on his friend.

Fan Xui silently lifted his head. He glanced at the unfamiliar road ways. "Where are you going?"

"To my house, of course."

"Why is that? This is my car, and you are the guest here. Take a cab," Fan coldly glanced at him.

"My darling friend, we just shared an intimidate secret. We have to finish this off with some quality wine," he mumbled with a wide smirk.

Fan Xui rolled his eyes. "You just want to know more, don't you?"

"Yes, I plan to make you drunk off your ass and get all the secrets out of you," Qian giggled.

Fan Xui sighed loudly. "I can't believe I'm friends wit you,"

"Dude, I'm your only friend,"

"Details details," Fan Xui tiredly laid his head on the window. Somehow, the headache from last night was relapsing. "aghh...." It was as if a mine exploded in the back of his head.

He groaned softly, holding his head.

"What's wrong? You are not planning on ditching me with a fake reason, are you? This is our bro time..."

"I have a headache," Fan Xui groaned even more. His head was pounding loudly. Sweat dripped down his forehead and the small hairs on his forearm stood up like they were electrocuted.

A few flashes appeared... flashes of unfamiliar creatures kept coming on going out of vision.

"stop...."

"it's okay.. Even if you roll unconscious, I'm not letting you go." Qian reached and patted his shoulders. Something zapped him hard. Smell of burning hair filled the small space "Ow!! What the..."

  "S—stop the car.."

Qian instantly stopped it by the road. "What is wrong?"

Fan Xui ran out puking his stomach out. The pain was unbearable. He knelt on the ground, unable to keep himself standing.

"whoa!! Fan!!" Qian held him up.

But Fan just crumbled down weakly.

"Hold on to my shoulders... are you sick?...." he touched his forehead.

Suddenly, a sharp pain hit him every time he touched his bare skin. "Ow bloody Jesus!" he carefully held Fan without touching his skin.

Fan had already lost consciousness by then. "Shit he really is sick!!"

He lifted him to the car and swiftly drove to the nearby hospital.

The admission did not take long. Qian easily found a copy of Fan's medical records in his car.

"What's wrong with him? He said that he was having headaches for a long time. Is it the side effects of the surgery?" he glanced at the doctors for answers.

"We are not sure. We have prepped him for a CT scan. That can give us some answers." The doctor said, rolling unconscious Fan to the CT scan room.

Qian held his head, panting softly. This was the second time he had seen his friend so vulnerable. The first was his car accident that took his vision.

He slowly slid down, sitting on the hospital floor. 'I did not even realise he was that sick.... I was making fun of it.. Oh my god I'm a bad friend..' he silently sobbed.

Right then, his phone pinged. It was a message from Liwei saying that he will be dropping by his home.

With shaking hands, he replied he was busy.

Fan Xui had warned him not to tell the secret about his eye surgery.. not even to Liwei.

His friend somehow did not trust Bai Liwei. Maybe it was because he was from that traitorous family of Bai.

He groaned softly... 'What would I do if he had a terminal illness... will he really die?..'

During his first accident, Fan Xui had a huge swelling inside his brain and forgot everything. For years, he was like that. But after a while, he suddenly remembered everything.

'Is it going to happen again? Is he going to forget everything again?...'

After a long wait, the doctors ran to him hurriedly.

"is it a tumour? Is it terminal? Is he dying... oh my god am I going to lose my only friend!!!" he sobbed loudly, holding the doctor's scrubs.

"sir... your friend's condition is unique.. Please come with us. He led him to the office and sat down. "We have got his scans... and something is very peculiar."

He hung two scans before the lit up board. A human brain was cleanly seen.

Even though he was a scientist, he did not deal with human anatomy much, so he was very confused.

"Is there anything wrong with his brain? Did he forget everything again?"

"Did that happen before?" the doctor frowned.

"Yes, it did. After his accident, he lost his memory for three years," he anxiously whispered.

The doctor scribbled something on his notepad.

"So he will live, right? Call any specialist you can. I will take care of all costs.."

"Wait, a bit. He is not terminal, and he is not dying," the doctor raised his hand. "As you can see, his brain is... unique." He gestured to the scans.

"This is what we call brain imaging. We can detect patterns of brain activity with this. See this part, the frontal lobe." he gestured to the dark part of the scan.

"I don't see it..." Qian narrowed his eyes and peered at it.

"It's because it's too active. We are not even able to scan it successfully. Every time we tried it glitches," he showed multiple scans that all showed a blackened frontal lobe.

"What does this mean?" Qian anxiously whispered.

"This must only mean that your friend has the potential to unlock an infinite amount of memories. It is physically not possible for a human to do so. But.... it's happening. This is the first time we have ever seen this. My mentors and other study groups will be here. Please give us permission to check up on him."

"No! Discharge him. We are going to move him to my hospital,"

"but your friend is a medical miracle. If we can research him, we might find the easiest way to help humans unlock memories."

"Anyone with short-term memory loss or other similar condition like dementia can greatly benefit from it." the doctor peered at him excitedly.

"I won't allow it. You are not making my friend into your lap rat. Process the discharge papers. And you better keep what happened he confidential."

He picked up the scans. "I will send my lawyers to you. Sign the NDA agreement obediently. Got it?" he intently glared at him.

"g—got it.." the doctor gulped and handed every copy of the scans to him.

Qian Wen walked out of the room even more confused. 'What kind of memory is he accessing... it's not possible for humans to have such brain activity?...'
