-Professor McGonagall's Office – At Night-
"Okay, now raise your left hand a little higher and take two steps to the side, without losing rhythm" Professor McGonagall instructed me while I danced with Luna.
I was holding one of Luna's hands while the other was on her waist, while she kept one of her hands on my shoulder.
We were dancing a slow, calm waltz, trying to keep up with each other, with me leading Luna across the large open space in Professor McGonagall's office.
Now, you must be wondering why I was dancing with Luna, right? Well, the answer to that is simple.
The news that I was going to the ball with Luna had spread throughout the school, which meant that not only the students but the teachers also found out about this information.
And among these teachers were Professor McGonagall and Penny, who were surprised at first, but then demanded that I bring Luna to our next dance class, as according to them it would be better and I would learn to dance faster if I were dancing with my date.
And on top of that, they also said they wanted to see if Luna knew how to dance, but for some reason I felt like there was a hidden reason they didn't want to tell me about.
And this became even more obvious when I arrived at Professor McGonagall's office, because usually the moment I walked through the door the two of them would immediately come up to me, trying to vie for my attention.
However, this time it was different, as they completely ignored me to focus on Luna, who they stared at with calculating and thoughtful looks.
But leaving the strangeness of these two women who I considered my grandmothers aside, I realized that they were right when they said that learning to dance with Luna would be easier.
Dancing with Luna was more fun and exciting, and I knew she thought the same by her happy and cheerful look, and maybe because her age was close to mine I felt more comfortable dancing with her.
"Great, now spin!" and following Professor McGonagall's instructions I grabbed Luna's waist and spun with her.
And after putting Luna down on the ground again, we did a few more turns and steps following the symphony of the music, before finishing the dance.
And as soon as the dance and music ended, I looked at Luna, who had a happy smile on her face, which made me smile too.
"Perfect, you did very well" Professor McGonagall praised us with a proud look.
"Yes, and you certainly suit each other," Penny said, smiling softly, "And I daresay you will be the best couple at the Yule Ball."
"Thank you" I said, happy to receive compliments from my two grandmother figures.
"Thank you Mrs. Flamel and Professor McGonagall" Luna thanked them both, "Taking dance classes with you two is really fun"
"Awn, I'm really happy to hear that" Penny said, coming over to Luna and hugging her. She then broke the hug and looked Luna in her eyes, "And I already told you, call me Penny"
"Okay Penny" Luna nodded, and the immortal lady smiled before hugging her again.
"Hmm, Miss. Lovegood" Professor McGonagall said, catching Luna's attention who broke the hug with Penny, "I couldn't help but notice, but you're a great dancer... Have you ever taken dance classes before?" she asked, looking at the small girl curiously.
"Actually, I learned to dance from my mother" Luna replied with a small nostalgic smile.
"I see," the Transfiguration teacher nodded, and I could see a slight flicker of sadness in her eyes.
And I was confused for a moment, until I realized that Professor McGonagall probably knew Luna's mother and had taught her when she was studying at Hogwarts.
'Sometimes I forget that Professor McGonagall has been teaching at Hogwarts for a long time and probably knows every student's parents' I thought, before frowning.
'And unfortunately this also means that many of your old students and friends died in the first blood war, and that is a sad thing'
And looking at Professor McGonagall I once again found myself impressed by her, knowing that she carried such sadness in her heart and yet remained a strong, fierce and kind woman.
'Well, one more reason why she's my favorite teacher' I thought, smiling slightly.
"Well, changing the subject" Penny clapped her hands to get our attention, breaking me out of my thoughts, "Do you two have everything ready for the Yule Ball yet?" she asked Luna and me.
"Hmm, I think so" I said after thinking for a while.
And Luna who was still next to me shook her head, "Actually I still need to buy myself a dress" she said.
"Really?" Penny asked.
"Yes, I didn't bring one because I didn't know I was going to be asked to the ball" she replied, looking sideways at me with a slight pink tint on her cheeks.
"Oh, in that case we can buy you a dress in Hogsmeade this Friday afternoon" the immortal lady said.
"We?" Luna tilted her head in confusion.
"Yes, we" Penny nodded, "I'll go with you as students can only go to Hogsmeade on weekend visits or if they are accompanied by a teacher"
"And besides, I also want to help you choose your dress, and in fact I will even pay for it" and hearing this Luna blinked in surprise, before shaking her head.
"That won't be necessary Penny, I already sent a letter to my father and he will send me the money to buy the dress" the blonde girl said.
And hearing this Penny waved her hand dismissively, "Oh, don't worry, you're my grandson's date, so the least I can do for you is buy your dress."
"But..." Luna tried to say, but Penny cut her off.
"No buts, I've already made up my mind" she said resolutely, "And if you're refusing because you don't want me to use my money, know that it doesn't matter to me... In fact, I have so much money that sometimes I don't even know what to spend it on, so you'll also be doing me a favor by letting me buy your dress."
And Luna still wanted to refuse, but the look in Penny's eyes said she wouldn't take no for an answer.
And Luna, who didn't know what to do, looked at me, and I nodded to her meaning that she should accept Penny's help.
And she was still feeling uncertain about it, but she still turned back to Penny and nodded, "Okay... And thank you," she said, truly grateful.
And upon seeing Luna accept, a huge and satisfied smile appeared on Penny's face.
"Great, then it's settled!" she said happily, "We're going to meet in front of the Entrance Hall this Friday after your afternoon classes to head to Hogsmeade for a girls' afternoon."
"Girls' afternoon?" Luna repeated confused.
"Yes, or did you think we were just going to buy your dress?" Penny questioned, with a mischievous smile on her face.
"Yes" Luna replied, which made Penny's smile grow.
"Oh no my dear, actually we are going to spend the whole afternoon having fun visiting each and every store in that village" the woman Flamel said, placing a hand on Luna's shoulder, "We are going to try all the sweets from Honeydukes, eat the dishes from Three Broomsticks, wear the craziest and weirdest hats from Fickle Fabrics."
And the more Penny talked the more I could feel her excitement grow, and for a woman over 600 years old she seemed like a happy child planning an afternoon of fun with a friend.
And Luna, who was previously nervous and uncertain about going to Hogsmeade with Penny, started to get excited with every word the alchemist lady said.
And then before I could even react I saw the two of them talking excitedly about all the things they'd like to do together in Hogsmeade, as if they were best friends.
And Professor McGonagall and I who were watching the interaction between the two could only look at them in disbelief.
And after a few seconds I shook my head with an amused smile, 'Looks like Luna found a new best friend... And Penny too'
And as I looked fondly at Luna and Penny talking, Professor McGonagall beside me sighed in exasperation.
'As always, Mrs. Flamel does what she wants' she thought, starting to get used to this characteristic of Penny.
'And it's amazing how much she reminds me of Ethan with her happy, laid-back personality' Professor McGonagall stared at Penny and me, before narrowing her eyes.
'Hmm, I'm starting to think that maybe these two really are grandmother and grandson...'
End.
