"This is not right...."
Emma, the more gentle of the ones gathered here, spoke, her words resonating with all of us as I nodded my head at her words.
"You are right, this is not right at all. But as you have experienced firsthand, this world focuses more on interests and what can be achieved from it. Sometimes, even the best meant to protect us would be the ones to betray us."
My words only made the others feel the pinch in their hearts from all the pain they had gone through. Emma bit her lips a bit hard, her eyes twinkling with a certain edge to them as she asked me.
"Then what in the world is worth fighting for? Why do we live in love and protection?"
I didn't answer her immediately. My eyes held Emma's gaze, the two of us looking at each other for a moment. I raised my hand to block Mark from saying anything, this gaze being held for some time, after which I broke out of it with a smile, my voice gentler than usual as I spoke.
