While Tom was pondering over his newfound overpoweredness, which isn't even a word, the Ancient One was thinking if they needed to test anything else.
"Hmm, we've tested everything I can think of except your connection to dimensional energies, which shouldn't have changed. Unless you now have a connection to a dimension that Manasa rules? Any other powers you may have would need to be discovered over time." The Ancient One explains.
"Alright, sounds good to me. I'll test to see if I got any of the normal superpowers in my free time. Like flight, telekinesis, elemental control, telepathy, and anything else I can think of." Tom said as he hoped for something good.
"Don't get your hopes up, Tom. You've already become very powerful thanks to the ritual. It's possible that you don't have any more powers to discover." The Ancient One said.
"Alright, I won't get my hopes up." Tom deflates a bit, but a small part of him still hopes for a cool power.
The Ancient One could tell that his hopes were still on getting another power. She's already given her warning, so she'll keep her mouth shut now.
If and when he gets disappointed and comes crying to her, the Ancient One will throw a big fat 'I told you so' into his face.
"Well, that's enough testing for the day. I'm going to go and read until another crisis appears. I wonder if I have any potato chips left?" The Ancient One said as she opened a portal and left Tom alone in the mirror dimension.
"Huh?" Tom didn't even have a chance to react before she was gone. "Wait! I don't have my sling ring!"
As Tom yelled this into the empty mirror dimension, a small piece of paper fell in front of him. Picking it up and looking it over, Tom couldn't help but sigh in annoyance.
'This is what you get for calling me fat'
————————————————————————
Seeing that he was trapped in the mirror dimension for however long his mother wanted, Tom made use of that time as best he could.
He tried testing everything he could to see if any other powers would appear.
First, he wanted to see if he got any regenerative powers, so he summoned an eldritch knife and knicked his finger.
A small cut opened on his finger for less than a second before closing up and disappearing completely.
"I definitely have regeneration, but I wonder if it's faster or slower than Wolverine and Deadpool?" Tom thought as he wanted to further test this. "I should probably wait until I'm not trapped in another dimension for that. I don't want to bleed out and die before she comes to pick me up."
After finding out about his healing factor, Tom tested every superpower he knew, hoping to have any other powers.
He screamed at the top of his lungs to see if he had a sonic scream.
He tried sticking to a wall like spider-man.
He tried conjuring the elements.
He jumped in the air while exclaiming 'up up and away!'
He screamed 'flame on' a dozen times, hoping to turn into the human torch.
...
Every possible superpower that Tom could think of was put to the test, and the large majority of them failed horribly.
What didn't fail were a few powers that he found cool but not that great.
First, he learned that he could see in infrared on command. All he has to do is focus a bit and boom infrared vision, which could come in handy Later on down the line.
Second, Tom tried closing his eyes to sense his surroundings, like spider-man's spidey-senses. Although he didn't have spider senses, Tom found that he could sense the heat from his body, and almost 'see' himself.
This one will have to be further tested, as Tom needs other heat sources around him to see if he can 'see' them with his eyes closed.
After a long day of testing, the Ancient One finally arrived to take Tom back. No other powers were found, which was sad, but he's already overpowered so Tom wasn't too depressed about it.
"How was your punishment." The Ancient One said as she appeared with a half-eaten slice of pizza in her hand.
"Is that my pizza?" Tom asks as his stomach growls at the smell. 'Wait, she's pretty far away. I guess I can add super-smell to the list of powers. That could be bad.' He thought as he imagined the stench of walking past a dirty dumpster.
"Yeah, It is." She smirks as she takes another bite. "It's the last slice. Mimsy came back looking for you, so I told her you were busy training. Of course, I mentioned how you generously offered me the pizza. She was more than happy to give it to me as well."
Tom felt the urge to call her fat again but kept himself under control. As the fat jokes rise to the surface, Tom would squish them down.
'I can order another pizza... Don't call her a fat whale... Don't call her a pizza-eating elephant... Keep your mouth shut.' Tom chants over and over in his mind.
"I feel a disturbance... Are you thinking bad things about me?" The Ancient One's senses started tingling.
"Who? Me? Of course not. I've learned my lesson after all." Tom plays it off flawlessly. 'Choke on that pizza you fat cow!'
Once again, a disturbance is felt. The Ancient One looked around as if Tom's thoughts had circled her.
"Hmm, maybe someone else is thinking bad things about me?" She says as she finished eating Tom's last slice of pizza.
"Yeah, probably." Tom says as he walks over to her and closes his eyes.
Sensing his surroundings like before, Tom can almost 'see' his mother and every movement she makes.
"Hmm, so it does work. I'll have to practice using that." Tom said.
"What works?" His mom asked.
"I can see you in infrared with my eyes closed." Tom explains.
"Huh? I think I've read about some snakes that can do that. Very interesting." She recalls.
"Yeah, I also have a couple of other powers to tell you about, but let's get out of here first. I haven't eaten anything in days."
